I learned something new today that I thought I would share. If you have borrowed points in your account and transferred points, the computer system will pull the transferred points first, thereby leaving you with borrowed points that you might not be able to use.
I asked the CM I was dealing with if there was someway that the system could be over-rided as the extra borrowed points resulted after I cancelled a night made at the 11 month window, and then booked 4 nights at another resort at my 7 month window. In essence, I wanted the points that were no longer being used for resort #1 to be the first points used towards booking resort #2. After being put on hold about 6 times I was told no, that they would need to cancel my reservation and rebook it, well that didn't work either. The only way for them to use those borrowed points towards resort #2 was for them to bank the transferred points that weren't needed for the reservation. I said fine, as I know that we won't be needing those points before our next UY, but it made me think what if I wanted to have the flexibility of having those points available to me?
The CM even tried to tell me that transferred points couldn't be banked, but after I asked him to verify this, he told me no they could in fact be banked. The CM I had was just as confused as I was, and I was lucky that the resort I wanted had several rooms available (the CM checked this before cancelling and trying the various methods to use those points). I can't imagine someone trying to have something like this ironed out during a peak time!
