Thank you everyone for you concern, we have caused a lot of worry to a lot of people.

We were aware of the situation by lunchtime on Boxing Day, but fortunately were in Kandy in the centre. We had been on the beach north of Colombo three days earlier, and were due to be on the south coast New Year's Eve. Both hotels were destroyed. We were on a family adventure holiday, and so the three families all decided we could achieve nothing by panicing to get out, we were fine and a lot of people were not and needed the flights.

Sri Lanka is a beautiful country, the people are so generous, they are desparate that tourists still keep visiting. Please support the appeals the best you can, we have been deeply affected but nothing compared to the poor families who have lost relatives and livelihoods.
