I was just wondering how often you see ticks while staying at the fort?

What about on your pets?

Thank you in advance :)

lucy_love,

long time no hear from!

last I remember you were trying to decide about where to live when you went to UGA (somewhere near Atlanta or closer to Athens).

Guess you're getting close to finishing up by the looks of your signature.

Are we all going to have to address you as DOCTOR Ashley now? :teacher:

To answer your question, I've not encountered any ticks on any members of my family (no 4 legged members though). Of course, if you get off into the brush, thickets, or forest behind some of the sites, all bets are off.

Never had a tick on us or Bailey dog. We do keep flea and tick preventative on her.

I have never seen ticks at the Fort,,,I asked our fur baby Bailey but she refused to answer on account of she's afraid of possible retaliation from the ticks in Tennessee. (you know, just in case the word got out.)
I'm pretty sure that there is a Tick Mafia, but Disney has been able to thwart their efforts to form a Fort Tick Union.

Thank you everyone for your updates! We are up in GA and ticks have been bad lately, was hoping they didn't make their way to the fort ;)

I know! I have been SO incredibly busy. Yes, I am just about done with school. I have my oral defense of my dissertation on the 29th and I am getting married in November and started a new teaching job so I have way more on my plate than I imagined!

Good to know, the ticks have been bad around here and it has been a while since we have been to the fort. I think it has been over a year ! With the wedding, my school, and new job we didn't renew our passes because we figured there wouldn't be enough time.

Nice to see you again!

The only thing I've ever seen is snakes, yellow flies and mosquitos. And deer, turkey..... But it's still camping. I'm sure there are ticks and other nasty critters lurking around. They do spray a weed killer (non-toxic) all around the campground which probably deters ticks and fleas.....

My kids asked one time why there were mosquitos at Disney. Wouldn't that kind of magic be awesome?

Along those same lines, I hardly ever see wasps! Here in GA we have these big nasty orange wasps and I don't ever recall really remember complaining about wasps at Disney :)

I never really see 'any' bugs except the flying insects around the lamp posts at night! :) Disney takes care of them really well with pixiedust: ;)

While hiking around the fort searching for the old trains rails just north of the 1500 loop and down by the east creek, I came back to me campsite with 2 ticks latched on to me.

Just to clarify I was waist deep in brush that hasn't been threaded for yeeeeears.

I have never had a tick on me from just being around the campsites or in the loops.

Just stay on the paths and you will be fine.
However the dog park is right near where I was exploring so you might want to check your dog after you leave there
