My friend is trying to sell me her unused days left on her hopper tickets. The tickets say non-transferable and must show ID with ticket. Do disney really ask for an ID? Should I just buy my own?

They are non-transferrable; the first time a ticket is used, that individual must place their fingers on a scanner. It scans their finger and gives everyone their own individualized number or ID, so to speak. Chances are you will not be able to get through and someone will ask for your license. You're better off to purchase your own but your friend should be able to make use of those unused days in the future. Hope this helps.

I thought the only tickets that had the finger scan were the annual passes.

I have used tickets purchased for one family member for a different family member without any problem. I bought a 5 day pass for my mother, she used three days, my SIL used one day and I put credit for the last day on my current AP.

Carol is correct, you do not do a finger scan with regular park hoppers.

There is really no way for Disney to stop you from sharing your hoppers passes.

:)

Look at the ticket & see if there is a name on it. If not, you should be able to use it.
If it's a FL Resident Play 4, you're out of luck.

When we were there last year the family in front of us had tickets that would not scan, and they had to show proof of ownership.
They were not able to do so, and were refused entrance to the park. I am not sure what ticket they had, but they were very upset. If it were me, I would just buy your own ticket to be on the safe side. Nobody needs that type of hassle on your way in to have fun at Disney!

Sorry about any misinformation - we have switched from AP to multi-day passes so many times during our times to Disney that I guess we just got confused. DH and I both thought a finger scan was used for our multi-day and APs but I guess we were wrong - sorry about that.

We had a combination of AP's and hopper tickets over the last year during 3 separate trips, and only the ADULT AP holders needed to have their fingers scanned(correctly called a "biometric reader"). As a matter of fact, my DH and daughter had the same character on their hoppers, and I held onto everyone's for safe-keeping, so I am sure they got them mixed up a time or 2. We did have one hopper that did not scan twice during our trip, and the CM at the gate waved us through and pointed us in the direction of guest services in the park to replace the hopper.
