Tickets when staying at Hotel

We are getting off a Disney cruise in early March and heading straight to the Lowes Royal Pacific and parks. We just have that day there and one night at the hotel before flying out the next morning. We have been twice, but aren't too familiar with the parks and have never stayed at that hotel. Do I understand correctly that I should buy my park tickets online, and then when I check in, the hotel keys for each person will be our express pass? Is there any reason to wait and buy park tickets onsite?

You can buy your park pass in advance or at the hotel when you check in

Agreed. Price-wise, buying early is safest.

The downside of buying early is if your plans change - either by you or by things out of your control.
