Hi all! I am getting excited for our upcoming trip in August. The ticket vs AP prices are confusing and I want to make sure I do this correctly. I want to buy tickets from UT and upgrade to seasonal AP's during our stay. If I buy the 3 day Park to Park ticket with Volcano Bay I should be able to upgrade to seasonal AP's for a small fee? Am I understanding that I shouldn't purchase the UT tickets that say Promo (with the 2 extra days) because the tickets won't be worth as much? Basically I'm just trying to figure out which tickets to purchase that I can upgrade for a small or no fee, if that makes sense. Thanks in advance :)

Buy your park tickets from
UT and use them
Once to enter the parks

This will bring the tickets up to present value
Then if you wish, upgrade them to the ap
It will cost you less to upgrade the tickets to an ap then

Different UT tickets have different values. If the UT ticket is a Universal buy 2 get 4 ticket promo (for example), you will probably only get credit for 2 days. However, if the UT ticket is a undercover tourist promo where the ticket is actually a 4 day ticket but UT is just charging a 2 day price, then you will get credit for 4 days. It is impossible to tell which kind of ticket you are getting from UT, but if it does not have an expiration date on it, you will probably get full value. You will still save money over buying straight from Universal and upgrading.

You can upgrade to a seasonal pass regardless, but note that if you enter Volcano Bay you will only be able to upgrade to a 3 park pass.
