Tickets or Pass for discount

When your name is on the lease or the contract for ownership in DVC are there any discounts for tickets or passes?

If there are none now have there been discounts in the past?

I am just figuring out who needs to be put on a contact if we buy this week.

The only current discount is $100 off annual adult passes and $125 off Premium Annual Passes. Prior to that, there was a 10% discount on length of stay passes, but that pass type was discontinued when they began offering MYW tickets.

Be careful whom you add as an owner to your contract, if there is any bankruptcy of financial problems in the future, it could jeoparize the contract as an asset, even if the named owner made no payments or financial contribution towards the membership.

The AP discount is good for up to 8 people in your household. Adults will be required to show photo ID with the same address as the DVC owner.

Not to mention divorce or death.

There was a memorable situation related on the boards here where a forum member had her daughter listed on the contract. When the daughter's marriage was ending, the DVC contract was considered community property and the judge ordered it sold while dividing the assets.

I'm not an attorney, but my understanding is that under Florida law upon the death of one or more owners, property is automatically passed to those who remain. In other words, you could not will your personal ownership to a child or other descendant if other owners of the contract are still alive. Instead it goes to them.

Ultimately the contract would rest with the last living owner.

Oh, and Florida law states that minor children cannot own real estate. Thus you can't list anyone under the age of 18 on the contract.
