Tickets off-site Vs onsite

I'm not too sure what the cancellation policy is but the moment we have to potentially pay on the 6th August will either be that we'll just stick with Disney or go somewhere else.

If you don't have to make a final decision until August, I would sit tight. By mid-July, with the parks opening, many questions about the reservation system, modifying reservations, etc should be answered and give you further guidance. If you want to book your offsite hotel now, pick one that will let you cancel without penalty after August.

As hard as it is, I think the best answer is to wait for more information. AKL is beautiful if you end up staying there. Switching to off-site and potentially not getting park reservations sounds stressful.
