I plan on upgrading my 7 day ticket on my WDW package to an AP when I arrive at the BC. I have a couple of questions:

Do I take my key to the world card to the WS entrace at Epcot to do the upgrade? (I'm booked on a room only discount so I don't need to worry about the AP discount)

When I get the AP, will it be a different card than my key to the world card - so I will have my room key, plus my ap for my trip?

Thanks,
Sarah

If the price of the ticket goes up between the time you booked and the time you upgrade, use the ticket once to lock in that new price. Then go to Guest Relations and upgrade your ticket. Otherwise, you don't have to use it first; any Guest Relations should be able to do this for you. (Except people have reported bad experiences at AK.)

Yes, the AP will be separate from your KTTW card.

. . . on a shiny piece of paper.

i still can't believe it's just plain ol' paper. i know it's cause if u loose it they just replace it. just weird i thought when we first got it.

I agree I wish it was a hard plastic ticket. I guess the ticket offices do not have machines that do both paper and plastic cards. I do like being able to get it replaced anytime. One trip on, our first day I forgot our AP's back in the room and didn't realize until we got to the park. So rather than go back to our resort I was able to go to Guest Services give them my license and get new AP's.

It's not "plain ol' paper." It's a form of plastic called Tyvek. It's extremely difficult to tear, fold or mutilate. It's water resistant so there's no issue of getting it wet. It can be cut, but so can the hard plastic cards. It's on the same Tyvek as the MYW tickets that are not part of a package.

And they're actually more durable than the hard plastic cards.
