tickets for person in a wheelchair?

Our movie theatre also lets anyone in a wheelchair and their companion in free. Which is very nice of them.
A few of our theaters do this too. Their reasoning was "you are paying for a seat; you brought your own" kind of thing. I never understood why that got my husband in for free, though. He's not a caregiver or an assistant or anything.

I always wished WDW would allow a caregiver in for a reduced rate vs. allowing me in at a reduced rate. Sometimes a caregiver is only going to help the disabled person and is not there for their own enjoyment, but is working. This though would also be impossible to determine and would be rife with abuse if ever made into policy, so I can see why WDW does not discount for anyone. ---Kathy

Because they hope you/he will buy a soda and a popcorn which is where they make the real money.

I am in an ECV at the parks. I can walk and I can transfer, but there are lots of rides that I don't do. Why - not because I am not able to do them - because I don't like heights or coaster rides. I don't feel that I should be entitled to pay less.

There are lots of people, like me, who don't do coaster, etc. rides and none of us are looking for a discount because we don't take advantage of all the attractions.

Sure WDW seems expensive, but if you had to pay for each and every attraction, you would end up paying a lot more. We spend more for one day at our state fair than we do for one day pass at Disney.

If these are Carmike theaters it's because they were sued under the ADA and LOst and this is part of the settlement. They were sued over the stadiam seating ,that is every where now, and the lack of decent seating for people in wheelchairs. So it's not nice of them.
