Yes, though there are many reasons not too, including as you mentioned needing park pass reservations. If you wanted to go and didn't have tickets and reservations sell out, you'll be out of luck. Also, if you were planning to take advantage of the Genie + pay features, you'll need to have park pass reservations before making selections. Also, if you buy today for a trip in the future, you doing have to worry about price increases.
