Tickets as Cheap Now as they're going to be?

If I'm pricing tickets now for a 2018 trip, and the cheapest tickets I've found can be first used through December 2018, is there any reason not to go ahead and buy? Do the third party folks typically run any "sales" or have any cheaper prices between now and the end of the year?

You might find slightly lower priced multi-day tickets via Undercover Tourist, but I wouldn't wait around for them to have a sale. I would just see if they offer a discount now. If they do, it's unlikely to get cheaper over time.

Disney World ticket prices will increase within the next year, likely in early 2018. I recommend buying your tickets before then.

Undercovertourist had a flash sale a few weeks ago where you got 7 days for the price of 4 on park hoppers.

Yesterday, Parksavers had a deal on 7 days at the price of 5. It may be still available, but I would hold out for the 7-for-4 deal and make sure that the expiration date is beyond your trip dates.

There's always the risk that Disney decided to make another price increase

Historically, Disney has done their price increases early in the year. So you could keep your eyes open for a sale at undercover tourist or parksavers over the next couple of months. But I would definitely buy them before the end of this year.

My retirement payout will be in March 2018, and Paypal finances 6 months same as cash, so I guess I'll buy tickets in September!

Could you tell that the 7 days for 4 was a significant savings? Most of the other sales I've seen (7 for 5; 6 plus one day free, etc), seemed more like marketing wording, and were only a few dollars cheaper than the sellers not currently offering any discounts.

Yep, it was. I grabbed two of them. And another bonus with the UT flash sale is that they were the old tickets without the 12/31/2018 expiration date on them. :)

A 4-day base ticket costs $372.75
A 7-day base ticket costs $436.65
Savings: $63.90

A 4-day Hopper ticket costs $452.63
A 7-day Hopper ticket costs $516.53
Savings: $63.90

I like checking touring plans every day, they compare several 3rd party vendors ans how you the cheapest at the moment. It includes UT.

A 4-day base ticket costs $745.50
A 7-day base ticket costs $873.30
Savings: $127.80

A 4-day Hopper ticket costs $905.26
A 7-day Hopper ticket costs $1,033.06
Savings: $127.80

Maybe you wrote this to scare people away in an effort to lower crowds. But these numbers are for 2 tickets, right?

And, if two tickets, the 4-day plus three price is roughly the same as the the current 5+2, and 6+1 prices. So, maybe it is marketing spin

Right.
I was just coming back to fix the error.
Thanks!

The flash sale price for 7-for-4 was $431 and change.

Look at it this way--each extra day after 4 costs roughly $20. So getting 3 free days saves you $60. You are unlikely do better than that unless you buy one of those 4 day tickets. No hopping with those and each day is for each park, so you can't do MK two days with them. Plus they're good for a limited time.
