My family and I (2 adults, 2 children - ages 6 and 9) will be staying at Wyndam Bonnet Creek Hotel at the end of July without personal transport. At this point, we are looking into purchasing 4 tickets (1-day/1-park) to Universal Studios - Islands of Adventure (only) and also need transportation to and from the hotel.
Where best to buy tickets? Transport? Any additional dvice?

* We also have friends who will be staying at the hotel at the same time who also want to do this. Can/should we consider buying 4 2-day/2-park tickets and splitting the cost - so we can each go on different days? Will the tickets transfer? They also are a party of 4 (2 adults, 2 children - ages 5 and 9)?

There are no discounts on single day admissions so there's really no cheap place to purchase theme park tickets.

Tickets are not transferrable once activated so whoever uses the tickets the first day is the only person who can use them.

Check with your hotel and see if they offer any shuttles to Universal.

Unfortunately, such a ripoff - $400 for a family of 4? Seriously?

And no discounts on single day? More marketing scams.

Also learned that Bonnet Creek does not offer shuttles to Universal?

We haven't even gotten there yet and am already turned off...

Ridiculous.

As Metro said tickets are not transferable. Universal is even more strict than Disney about this. I swear I have trouble every single trip with my dang ticket. If your finger print doesn't match, they definitely ask for photo ID. I have to show mine every single trip at least once and then go to guest services to exchange my ticket for a new one.:rotfl:

As far as getting to Universal from Bonnet Creek, we were at BC last month. We had a rental car, but I did notice in the paperwork they gave us at check in, something about a shuttle to Universal. I think it's through Mears though. You have to call beforehand to sign up for it. I don't remember the exact price, but do remember thinking it was a little cheaper than booking a shuttle directly through Mears. If you call Mears at their regular number the shuttle is like $19.00 r/t per person. If you booked through BC it was like maybe $15.00 r/t per person.

Not sure if you are aware, but Bonnet Creek now charges for their shuttle to get to the WDW parks too. It's $5.00 per person per r/t with kids three and under being free. It may be cheaper for you guys to just rent a car to get around down there. You'd have to pay to park at the parks, but parking at Bonnet Creek is free.

Unfortunately, such a ripoff - $400 for a family of 4? Seriously? How is it a ripoff? Neither Universal nor Disney give discounts for single day tickets. That's nothing new.

And no discounts on single day? More marketing scams. Again...how is this a scam? Do you think Disney would offer you a discount for a single day? It's not gonna happen.

Also learned that Bonnet Creek does not offer shuttles to Universal? You would have to take that up with the hotel. Universal has nothing to do with Bonnet Creek so that's not on them.

If you are turned off by answers to your questions that would be the same situation at Disney, I don't think you would enjoy yourselves. Going to a theme park in Orlando for a day isn't cheap.

I live in San Antonio with Seaworld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas it is $65 for a day ticket to Six Flags which is no where near the quality of WDW or US. Entertainment, especially vacations, is just expensive...

True! Several years ago I took my GD down to San Antonio for a week. We used city transportation, stayed at a hotel about a block off the River Walk, took a River Walk boat tour, saw the Alamo, spent two days at Fiesta Texas, two days at Sea World, and one day over at the Children's museum. I swear I spent as much for that trip as I did when I took her to WDW a few months later and there wasn't near as much to do.

Bonnet Creek have always offered a shuttle to Universal. I wasn't aware it had changed. Will be there for 3 weeks from next month and my husband planned to use the shuttle as we have booked one night at Universal hotel but not checking out of BC and my husband will go back there in the evening and come back next day. I think it was $15 return.

Our 14 days tickets cost us £85 (not $) which is pretty good if you use them for several days. Never a great deal to only go for one day.

Universal Orlando has the great 14-day 3-park "park hopper" ticket for about $180. Maybe the original poster should cut their Disney World visits by 50% and do Universal a lot more during their trip. Makes a lot of economic sense.

Relatively speaking, theme parks aren't that expensive. You should check out how much it costs to golf in Orlando. Theme parks are cheap in comparison.

There is information for all of these costs on the internet. You should always check prices for the entire vacation before you book any part....accommodations, airfaire, dining or entertainment. Not everyone can afford an Orlando vacation.
