We are bew DVCers and going to WDW in March for my DD 21st birthday. We are staying a BLT for 5 days. My question is would TIW save us any money assuming it is available for DVC members?

2nd question_Where to buy tickets. Disney, AAA or Undercover Tourist?

Thanks,:)

TIW is now available to DVC members for $100. So if you plan on spending more than $500 on food, it should save you money.

I always buy my tickets from UT.

It's $100 now? Is this the new change, you don't need the AP to buy it but the price went up? Hmmm....I remember reading something about that.

We loved TIW, but we used it over 2 trips totaling 14 days so I would think a 5 day trip at a cost of $100 would end up with you barely breaking even. Are you going back within 12 months? The card is good for 12 months, so if you can use it to cover 2 trips it changes the numbers.

I always buy from UT. Sign up for the Mousesavers.com newsletter, they have a link for members to UT that results in a few $$$ more in savings. No cost to join mousesavers.

Good luck, have fun!

Before you can answer the question "is it worth it" you need to caluclate that break even point where the discounts you receive make up for the card and at $100 that break even point is $500. If you are going to spend much more than that in a year on food and drink at buffet or table service restaurants it is worth it.

We have it, but I thought you had to have AP's or be a FL Resident. We got ours for $75 back in late October...Has the price gone up?

The cost is $75 for AP holders, $100 for FL residents and DVC members.

The ability for DVC members to get them just started last week.

It's not that the price went up, it's just a different price for DVC members. It's still $75 for AP holders. DVC members are getting the perk of buying it for the FL resident price.

As far as tickets go, We buy ours from Undercover Tourist with the Mousesavers.com discount from the newsletter. It's not a huge discount. It can be a $1 up to $6 depending on which ticket you buy (# of days, park hopper, etc) but $6 on four or five tickets starts to add up. You can have them transfer the UT ticket onto your KTTW card upon checkin as well.

Ahhh got it! I was wondering! LOL:rotfl:

As posted earlier you need to figure in an 18% gratuity to TIW card and figure that against the money you will be spending for meals wile you are there. It is good for a year so if you go back you can still use it. Another perk is that it includes alcohol..if I am not mistaken..

Yes, the 20% discount applies to all food and drink, including alcohol, that you order at the restaurant. TIW is not useable on holidays but is every other day of the year. They automatically add an 18% tip and that 18% is based on full price not price after discount. The net effect is that your price plus tip ends up being 2% below regular price without tip. If you believe that tip rate is too high, you may want to reevaluate the possiblity of getting a TIW but most probably tip in that range anyway. We have TIW with the AP price of $75. For us it is ideal since we are there at least two and some of us four weeks a year and the "children" are now mostly adults who consume some alcohol at some meals, although we also sometimes have grandkids. When you have five or six at a dinner like we often do, reaching the break even point, $375 if AP price, to justify the cost of the card can occur with only two meals.
