Tickets for Tom Waits go on sale tomorrow and if anyone knows who he is, he has some incredibly loyal fans, he doesn't tour EVER, and it's small hall, so they're going to sell out fast.

I haven't bought tickets in forever so what's the best way? any tips?

Thanks a bunch!

I heard a tip from someone once, that I haven't actually tried....try calling a different branch of ticket master. For example, if the event in is New York, call the local number for ticketmaster in Chicago. Not as much demand, phone lines won't be as busy. Good luck!

That is a great idea!!!! I'll let you know if we try it and if it works!

Can't get over the prices either $60-65, yeesh! I guess that's average.

I have had better luck online. Go ahead and get an account set up tonight and log in and start hitting 'refresh' about 5 minutes before they go on sale.

You could also try both ways - maybe you are online and have someone else calling in to see who gets through first.

Good luck!

Make sure you call the Ticketmasters the day before. Some won't carry the concert. Some will. Put the numbers in speed dial that will carry the concert and then dial the furthest point when the tickets go on sale.

Also, and this doesn't always work. Get on with an operator and ask about another show/concert 5 minutes before the concert goes on sale. When it goes on sale, then ask about Tom Waits. I've had that work and not work. With larger venues, the sales are all automated now so it doesn't work. With smaller venues, it probably will still work.

And the BEST tip I can give when purchasing concert/show tickets/sporting events online OR even over the phone....

GO TO THE WEBSITE FOR THE HALL/AUDITORIUM/THEATER/STADIUM and print off
the SEATING PLAN...have that in your hand and ASK which seats they are and NOTE them BEFORE you purchase them.

This will prevent you from buying "nose bleed" or "obstructed view"!!!!

I ALWAYS like to get First Row (A) MEZZANINE :thumbsup2 ..you can see everything and no one is walking past or in front of you!!!

:cool1:

Gosh, I'm so glad I asked, I didn't know you had to set up an account first.

I can just see us with two cell phones, our home phone and the computer and dh doesn't get a ticket, oh my, I'll just move out, LOL.

Thanks so much everyone!!!

I also have used the Ticketmaster online for a long time with excellent results. Setting up your account ahead of time (charge card info) will make things go much faster. Also, are you aware of the time the tickets go on sale? Typically its 10am but you should check that on Ticketmaster beforehand as well. Usually the tickets online will be offered to you for two minutes then released so you need to make a quick decision if they are the seats you want or not. Personally if you think its going to sell out quick I would take the first choice given. But then again you also are given a choice when you first start the process of the ticket price range and area you want...main floor, balcony, mezz, or best available...I usually select best available. Good luck!

I just set up an account and thanks for info on the 2 minutes to decide, I was wondering about that. I'm sure we'll take the first choice given since the place isn't that big.

I have had great luck getting tickets to many events that sold out in a matter of minutes online. Have your info in ahead of time log in with your account have your CC number saved in there as well a few minutes before (not too long before they will kick you out) but you don't want to try to log in right before becasue it might be too busy for you to get in.

I normally have the page up to by the tickets and a few seconds before it's time I hit refresh until I see the select tickets option. Have the seating chart up as well so you can see where the seats are if you don't like them don't waste time throw them back right away and search again.

Good luck!

We got tickets!!!! . It kept saying no tickets available on line. Dh got through on the phone right away, but then was on hold for a half hour before a representative picked up. We got two of the last general seating seats, which is what we wanted because the hall has a huge floor, so we'll be able to stand up front.

If anyone is interested, I thought it was kind of interesting, how they tried to stop ticket scalpers by only letting you purchase two tickets on line or by phone and you have to pick up the tickets at will call before the show. You have to show id and the credit card used to purchase the tickets with and then you will be escorted straight into the doors....so you're not allowed to pick up the tickets and then go have dinner first or anything.

Thanks everyone!
