Ticket warning - days vs visits

We just returned from a week at the Beach Club Resort and had a wonderful time. The weather was quite cool but sunny. We plan to visit a few times in the next several years so we bought the 10 day with no expiration option. We also added the water park, fun and more option.

Here's the thing... we happily went in and out of Epcot several times during the day since it was EMH and was open till midnight. This was taken off our pass as only 1 day. We went to DisneyQuest on another day and also went in and out several times to play a bit and check on the kids. Big difference! Each time we entered DQ, one visit was taken off our pass. For a total of 2.5 hours in DQ, we used 3 extras from our pass. Huh?

Luckily, we checked our tickets the morning that we left and found out what had happened. The concierge at the hotel was very sympathetic and explained the difference between park days and fun visits. There are no in/out privileges on visits to DQ or water parks. Every time you put your ticket in the machine, you lose one extra but that was never explained to us when we bought the tickets and he couldn't even say where that information was published.

The manager on duty was notified and kindly gave us 6 non-expiry passes for Disney Quest to compensate us for our loss. Just as it should be once again.

I don't think that's quite right - according to another DISer, Robo,

"You have ten entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, OT, TL, WWS). These may or may not be used on the same days as you go to the major parks. However, if you went to TL in the morning, Oak Trail in the afternoon, and Disney Quest in the evening of one day you would have used three of the ten entries. (Note that leaving and returning to the same minor park on the same day does not use an extra entry.)"

So, if you return to the same water park the same day, it should NOT cost you another entry.

It seems two errors occurred, you should have only used one of your WPF&M admissions per person for that day and the concierge either didn't know how tickets work or did know that there was a problem and he didn't either want to fix it or know who could fix it.

This is from the allears site (can't find it here and Disney's FAQ calls them admissions).

For the WPF&M admissions:
1) You get a set number of admissions to the minor parks that mirrors the length of your MYW ticket in most cases. You will get two admissions with a 1 or 2 day ticket, and on all other MYW tickets you will get the same number of admissions as the number of theme park days on your ticket. Example: a 5 day ticket has 5 admissions, a 7 day has 7 and a 10 day has 10.
2) These WPF&M admissions do not allow park hopping even if you added the park hopper option to your ticket. Each time you enter a minor park on any given day, you will use another WPF&M admission. The exception is that you are also allowed to leave and return TO THE SAME WPF&M PARK on the same day and not use a second admission.
3) You do not have to use a theme park admission on the day(s) you wish to use a WPF&M admission.

I don't think that's quite right - according to another DISer, Robo,

We had 3 visits to DQ in the same day and it cost us 3 entries. The manager on duty, Casey, said he was sorry that it wasn't explained to us but that was the difference between park days & fun visits. Either way, we're glad we checked.

I'm just saying that until there is an "official" response from someone like Cheshire Figment that I think that what happened to you at DQ was wrong, the Manager explained it wrong and yes the manager made it right but in the wrong way.

I don't want people to think that every time they go in and out of DQ that they will be charged a visit because when you went something went wrong and the manager that fixed it was wrong.

I and I think that everyone here believes that a DQ admission is for the whole day.

Too true. That's what I thought too. I will continue to check my tickets each time we use them and hope it was just an error. :confused3

Thanks for mentioning this. I would never have even thought about it but will now make sure we get everything done each visit using our WP&F options.

As far as I know the CM was incorrect and the ticketing system goofed. Re-entry to the same place on the same day does not cost another entry or day or plus or visit (the official term is entitlement).

Unless things have changed.

that's what I think too.... last year we went in/out and weren't charged another day, that makes no sense, what if you had to leave,as my dh did to take care of a child and come back in 10 minutes later? odd.......

And if it has changed, Disney needs to update it's website to fully explain what a WPF&M "admission" means.

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/common/helpFAQ?id=HelpFAQTicketsPage#q14

Also, numerous other ticket FAQs need to be changed and signs need to be placed at all Water Park and DQ turnstiles explaining the new policy.

I contacted Disney and they asked me to scan in my tickets (front and back) so they could take a look at what was going on. Jennifer Gallagher called me to apologize for the confusion but that my tickets showed exactly what they should. I was NOT charged for each time I entered DisneyQuest. How can that be? Even the hotel concierge told me that I was. Ok, so he was wrong. According to Jennifer, they have a different screen and he obviously didn't know what he was doing and probably just subtracted the 3 entries he saw from the 10 we were entitled to. I told her that the manager gave us 6 freebies because he too thought we had been shorted and she said keep them. All is well again.

Verry nice to have it worked out & very nice to be able to keep the 6 "extras" :thumbsup2

Just have a quick question on these tickets. If I go to Ak and then later visit a water park I can still go back to both if I want to..right?:confused3

Yes you can go back and forth between/among the same places you visited earlier.

A "WPFM admission" is the equivalent of a separately purchased one day ticket to that minor park.
