Ok, so I'm the on again off again AP holder and it's been a few years. If we get a 3 day and want to upgrade do we simply go on our last day, inside the park to the right and get in line and upgrade?

Are there any new rules? Need our receipt? Or something I'm not thinking about?

I think the last time I did it it was just photo id.

We're going in May and the sales are thru end of April. Is it likely that come April they will have a new offer for summer?

Thanks I was going to ask the same question. We are planning buting hopper tickets and then upgrading to DAP (to take advantage of being able to enter the park on our first day Saturday and also to get a MM on say the Tuesday).

I am a little worried about forgetting to upgrade whilst in the park on our last day (of Park hopper). I assume that if we forget and exit the park, we will have to buy DAP's at full price? Also with hopper passes, do you have your hand stamped to come back in the evening or go to DCA on the same day? I am thinking that if we get into the habit of getting our hands stamped then we can just turn around and reenter the park if we forget?

If you leave the Park at/after closing, yes. If you leave the Park before closing, remember, and come back, no.

Yes. Once you enter either Park and exit, you need your hand stamp to re-enter.

Not necessarily new rules, but from my experience in early Jan and what others have reported back here, you should be prepared to answer some questions around the use of your 3-day pass. Apparently they're doing this to verify that you did in fact use the pass and not just get it from someone else so that you could then upgrade to an AP. They'll ask things like whether you used your MM, when you got Fastpasses, if you used it every day, first day you used it, etc. We were upgrading ours at the end of a 6-day visit and had split our group, and not necessarily kept the same ticket for each person separate, so I honestly wasn't sure of the details they were asking. They did do the upgrade OK, fortunately, and I could have produced the receipt if it had come to that (or I'd imagine they could have looked it up since we'd done e-tickets direct from DL).

Personally, I found it a bit offensive to be grilled like we were, but unfortunately without having the finger scan thing like WDW to link a ticket to an individual, I can see where it would be relatively easy otherwise to get a pass that someone else had used and then upgrade it to an AP.

The AP Processing Center inside DL has been relocated to the old Plaza Pavillion, which is at the end of Main Street to the left of the Hub. There is also a new AP processing center in DCA in the Hollywood Backlot that I hear is hardly used so would have potentially less of a line. Good luck!

I wondered what they were doing over there at the Pavillion. However, I think I'm going to try the Backlot...I LOVE wondering around finding new things :) Thanks!

Thanks for all your input. I didn't know what changes if any I might need to know before getting there and then not having necessary paperwork.

You may want to consider upgrading earlier in your trip to take advantage of the AP discounts...just a thought!:goodvibes

I have no problem in them asking the questions and will definietely keep hold of my receipt for the 3 or 4 day passes we are planning to buy. Do you think they are latching onto the fact that people are 'getting round the system' by buying hopper tickets initially to get MM and 'blocked out Saturday' benefits because this is precisely what we are doing. I was wondering if they are getting a little tetchy about people doing that then is it a wise move? I also of course want to get my DAP asap as well to take advantage of the discount on most of my food!:goodvibes

No, that is a completely legal thing to do. Disney loses no money by you buying the PH first to get the MM.

What they are trying to prevent is people from passing their parkhopper with one day left onto another person so the other person can then upgrade to an AP. This happens all the time, and this is where Disney loses their money.

I don't mind the questions but I don't understand why they ask about the MM?

They ask which day the MM was utilized because it helps them ensure that the person upgrading the hopper is, in fact, the person who used the parkhopper each day since its activation. They can tell from the scan history which day MM was used, and if the question is answered incorrectly, they can assume the person presenting the hopper for upgrade isn't the original owner. Make sense?

Gotcha...that makes sense...you explained it well.
