Ticket Upgrade Help/Confirmation

I’m looking to upgrade a ticket purchased from a third party ticket broker to an AP. I read through the “Everything About WDW Tickets” thread, and I’m pretty sure I get the process. However, I was hoping someone could confirm what I’m doing is accurate.

I have a 7 day park hopper with no expiration – Paid $395, Disney.com price $471.80 (443 +tax). I want to upgrade this ticket to an AP when I go in December – Disney.com price $531.44 (499 + tax).

So when I go in December, I enter a park to activate the ticket then go to guest services to upgrade the ticket. The value I will get credited for will be $471.80, thus leaving me with a difference of $59.64 to upgrade to an AP.

Is this correct? Thanks!

That is exactly what should happen.

Be aware, however, that not every CM is fully up to speed on the proper procedures. As a result, you could get one that only wants to credit you for the purchase price or one that wants to set the start date for the AP on the date you originally bought your ticket (vs. the day it was first used). If the numbers you get from the CM don't match yours, ask (nicely) if they bridged the price, get a manager involved if necessary, or just leave and try again later with another CM or even at another park (or at DTD).

Any ticket booth (even at the water parks) or guest services location should be able to do an upgrade to an AP. The resorts, however, can't do AP transactions. You have 14 days from when you first use the ticket to complete any upgrade.

I agree with your math and your procedure.

When you go to do the upgrade, after having used the ticket at least once, if the CM in the window attempts to charge more ask if they forgot to bridge the price. If there is any problem, ask for a supervisor.
