Ticket Upgrade and FP

I have a friend who is a DL pass holder. She is going to WDW in July and wants to upgrade to a Premier passport. Looks like she can only do that when she gets there? Is she out of luck for FP, or can she buy regular tickets to make her FPs, then upgrade her DL pass and regular tickets when she gets there?

I think she can get a regular ticket then up grade ( you can do this with an AP at lest )

The possible PROBLEM that comes into this situation is that she already has a Disneyland AP.
In MOST cases, it is not allowed for guests to COMBINE the value of TWO (or more) tickets in order to upgrade to a
new ticket.

So, a DLR AP -plus- a WDW ticket would be two tickets.

The Premier Pass can be a special case, but, I'm just not sure enough to encourage the purchase of the WDW tickets.

The OTHER thing that WOULD work, is to purchase the WDW tickets, make the FP+ reservations based on those, then just NOT USE the WDW tickets (but pay cash for the Premiere Pass upgrade) and continue to HOLD the WDW tickets for use (or upgrade) on a future WDW trip.

Another thing to weigh is that there is no "pro-rating" of Disney APs, so if she upgrades
the DLR AP to a Premier WDW-DLR Passport, that Passport will expire on the date that the current DLR AP expires.

Whatever you do, do not take the word of a "phone CM."

While it MIGHT be the correct answer, it stands just as much chance to be the incorrect answer.
In short… Calling is worthless for this kind of info.

Yes I have heard that phone CM are relly bad witch is why I never call them

I have a suggestion that MIGHT work.

Try contacting WDW Ticket Guest Services.
They might (MIGHT) be able to help her upgrade to the Premier AP before she gets to WDW, and get that ticket info into her MyDisneyExperience account, and then can make advance FP+ reservations.

Call WDW Ticketing at
(407) 566-4985 (option 5)
Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm ET Mon-Sat

At least, they should have some reliable info about the upgrade and WDW tickets.

Thanks for thinking of me, but nope. Ticket booth CMs don't do anything regarding the Premier AP - we send anyone who wants one (which is pretty rare) to Guest Relations. I don't even know how much that pass would cost. :duck:

Thanks for replying!

I have the same situation as the OP. My Disneyland pass expires 11/19, but I will be in WDW during the first two weeks of November (6 nights at POFQ on a package, then a break for two nights, then three nights at SSR on DVC points). Currently I only have tickets for the POFQ package and I was planning to upgrade to the Premier pass to cover both parts of the trip (as well as cover the next year's Disneyland trips and another trip planned to WDW).

I am now thoroughly confused about how the Fastpass + would work with this transaction. I just spoke to a WDW CM on the phone (despite the admonition above) and she told me that with Fastpass+ you are only allowed to make reservations for five days in a month no matter how long you are staying or how many days of tickets you have? But when I go to the WDW website it says if you are staying onsite you can make FP + reservations for every day you hold a valid ticket? Which is it? based on the website I am going to talk to my travel agent about increasing the tickets to 10 days.

And I'm still not clear on if I make Fastpass+ reservations for all of the days (assuming I can do that) whether I lose them when I upgrade to the Premier Pass?

HELP!

1. I just spoke to a WDW CM on the phone (despite the admonition above) and

4. based on the website I am going to talk to my travel agent about increasing the tickets to 10 days.
5. And I'm still not clear on if I make Fastpass+ reservations for all of the days (assuming I can do that) whether I lose them when I upgrade to the Premier Pass?

1. Phone CMs are not trained in park operations. But, that does not stop them from repeating rumors and making up answers.
2. Not true. Ever.
3. Yup.
4. That will allow up to 10 days of advanced FP+ booking starting 60 days in advance of check-in.
5. You won't lose any.

Robo--thanks for your answers. I'm still trying to figure this all out. So--I'm thinking that the easiest thing to do would be to not have any tickets in my "package" and pre-purchase an annual pass voucher for WDW, and then when I go there upgrade that annual pass to a Premier? I would buy the Premier now and activate it at Disneyland but being as I still have several months left on the current pass I think that would be a waste (although I'm sure I could upgrade right now but really wanted to use the Premier for two F&W trips to WDW). And if I have just the voucher that would "count" on MDE so I can make Fastpass + reservations (or does it have to be activated first?) Would that make sense? Just not sure if I can detach or remove the tickets from the package. Will have to talk to my travel agent. Otherwise, my concern is that if I get two different sets of tickets for the two trips they won't combine them and credit both against the Premier.
