Do I have this correct....

If I pre-purchase park hoppers at the Disney Store, I am given a plastic credit-card type pass? And when I check in at the resort my room key is a separate credit card type thing?

If I wait and purchase the park hoppers at check-in, the park hopper and the room key are on the same credit card type thing?

Also, one person in our party will be purchasing a 2-day/2-park pass. When purchased at check-in, will this pass also be coded on to the room key? or will it be two separate passes plus a room key?

Sorry if I am confusing anyone. I just want to know what to expect. Thanks for your help! :D

Yes, all park passes now seem to be plastic cards except for the Annual Passes.

You will be getting a plastic card as your room key also. I would not wait to purchase your tickets at checkin as then you do not get the discounted pre-purchase price from the Disney Store.

I do believe you can get your pre-purchased passes put on your room key, but if I remember corrrectly this is a one-way thing and you have to give up your park pass to do this. Either way, you still will always have your room key.

I do believe the person getting the 2 day pass would be allowed to put it on the room key. Just a question though, can't that person save a little more money and pre-purchase the pass ahead of time? Yes it's a more to purchase more days, but the per day price is less, and they never expire...

Yes, you are correct. If you purchase tickets before checking into your hotel your tickets will be separate from your room key. And as far as I have been able to determine there is no way to transfer the tickets to your room key. This is one reason why we wait to purchase our tickets. I know I can get a discount if I purchase online or at the Disney store, but it is hard enough to keep track of everyone's room keys, let alone another ticket.:D

I was posting when Jeff's post came up, so now I have a question. I thought I read somewhere that these tickets could not be put on your room key. So, if anyone has tried this could you please let us know if it worked. What we want to know, is if you purchased tickets prior to going to WDW, could you then put these tickets onto your hotel room key or were they always a separate card.

Thanks for the help.:)

Advance purchased tickets cannot be put on your resort ID.

Prior to the September 2002 introduction of a separate advance pricing category, you could get your prepurchased new, completely unused tickets encoded onto your ID if the CM knew how to do the transaction. Not a lot of them were capable of doing it and even fewer were willing to do it as it required voiding sales and transferring money from one branch of Disney to another. It was time consuming to do.

When the 09/02 price change took effect, it was mandated by Disney that only tickets and passes purchased at resort check in be put on resort ID's. Resort CM's were no longer permitted to put any advance purchased ticket media onto resort ID's (advanced UPH's excepted).

GoldenOldie, you are just a FONT of information!!! ;)

Another question - Are the Length of Stay (which is now called something else) tickets date-stamped?

We're going on the Disney cruise from Sunday to Thursday. Coming in Saturday evening. Thought about staying at the All-Stars or a Moderate Resort that night to get one of these Length of Stay tickets to be used AFTER our cruise. What we really wanted was to be able to hop the parks (MK & EPCOT) the Friday after the cruise. The reason we're not staying on-site after the cruise is we got a free night at MWOC. Confusing - I know!

Mom - Unlimited Magic Passes (or old Length of Stays) ate completely tied to your time spent at a Disney Resort. The will expire at midnight the day that you check out. (or the evening before if you have asked at check-in to have the last day "dropped" because of it being a travel day).

Looks like you will need to get a hopper or single day/single park pass for your day after your cruise.

Hope that this helps. :)

Yes, all park passes now seem to be plastic cards except for the Annual Passes.
When I pre-purchased our last set of PH passes from our local AAA in Nov, 2002 they were paper ones like the APs.
