We are going to DLR in February. We will purchase our 5-day park hoppers in advance online (not sure if it will be from disneyland.com or orbitz or what yet.)

Are all tickets purchased online ones we need to print out? Will we still need to go to the ticket booth when we arrive?

I really don't want to spend my entire morning trying to figure out the ticket situation so if anyone can give me a heads up on what to expect, that would be great.

On another thread, someone mentioned photos. They take your photo for a regular ticket now? We haven't been to the parks since 2010.

You just take the printout to the turn-style and they swap it for a ticket.
It's easy and fast.

I cannot speak to tickets ordered through Orbitz, but if you purchase tickets through Disneyland.com and opt for the eTicket option, then you can head straight to the ticket gates when you get to DLR. They'll exchange the print outs for the standard tyvek ticket.

In terms of the photos...yes, everyone with a multi-day ticket has to have their photo taken. The CMs that scan your ticket at the turnstile are also the ones that take the photo now. It usually happens either when you get the tyvek ticket (first entry) or upon re-entry/hop. They may also ask you to print your name on your tyvek ticket (I've seen that happen as recently as Saturday). It only adds a few moments to the process, so it's not really all that bad.

If purchased through Orbitz, you will need to take the voucher and your photo ID to the ticket booth to exchange it for the tickets. The ticket booths on the Harbor Blvd. side of the Esplanade usually have shorter lines. If you are staying onsite, you can exchange the voucher for tickets when you check in.

You can also go the night before and get them if you will arrive the day before your first park day, that is what we have always done to keep from standing in an extra line our first morning and usually in the evening time the ticket lines are light to non existent

I just finished reading the way.com thread. In that thread, people mentioned taking their printouts directly to the turnstiles (skipping the ticket booth) and getting them swapped for tickets. Can anyone confirm if that's true?

If you buy tickets directly from Disney then yes, you go straight to the turn-styles - I have done it many times and I just did it again in Nov.
If you buy from someone else then you may have to go to a window first.
That's why I started just getting them from Disney online.

But if I am staying on site, I can trade my non-Disney voucher (Orbitz, way.com,etc) for ticket when I check in to my on site hotel, correct?

I used the tickets I bought from way.com at the turnstile this past summer.

Normally we would get our tickets the day before but we won't have time, I'm pretty sure. So we'll have to do it the morning of our first day. It may be worth it to pay a bit more from disneyland.com then to avoid the ticket booth?

True. Tickets purchased from "someone else" may or may not require a stop at the ticket booths. If the printout is an e-ticket with a bar code, most likely you can go straight to the park turnstiles. We purchase tickets at our local military ticket office every year we don't do APs. They have the bar code so we just go straight to the turnstiles where they are exchanged on the spot for regular ticket media.

Thank you. That's very helpful!

We purchased our tickets from AAA
3 adult 5-day hopper tickets for $869

We had printed tickets (same as Disneyland.com) that were exchanged at the turnstile. It is a fast and easy process. Pictures are taken and hand-stamps are no longer needed when you leave the park (on multiday tickets). Your photo becomes your "handstamp".
