I don't think we need the park hopper option. BUT if we were to by the 4 day and decided that we would like to go into another park for a little while on our 3rd day, could we use our 4th day to go into another park on the same day we used the 3rd day. Not sure now, I hate getting locked into something when we might actuall change our minds.
So you may say, well just buy the hopper anyway. But with a family of 6, this is not economical if we won't use it.
See, we usually don't spend more than an hour or 2 in Epcot.
Thanks,
Irene

Apparently the gate computers are smart ones and won't let you do that.

Nope, the base ticket is one park per day. If you want to go to 2 parks on one day, you must have the park hopper option. You can always add it after you start using your tickets if you feel you really need to go to more than one park on your third day.

Thank you sorceror mickey, that is a good idea. I just read about that on mousesavers.

Goofy, are you insinuating I am trying to do something sneaky and illegal? Insinuating is just like assuming. You have no idea who I am and what my morales are. Jeez, I was just asking a question.

Um, no.. I guess I can see how you could read that into my response. My comment was intended to marvel a bit at how Disney tracks your movements.

I don't know Goofy, but I'd have to say no. You're not the first person to ask this question and you most assuredly will not be the last. Some people (NOT you) who post it say that they think they've figured out a way around the ticket system.
To expand on Goofy's answer without remembering the exact terminology used: If you attempt to use a non-hopper pass to enter a second park on the same day you already used it to enter a park, the digital readout on the Cast Member's side of the scanner will show a message similar to "Alert! This pass was used to enter ___ Park at _:__ o'clock today".

Actually, since it only costs $37.27 to add the park hopper option to any length ticket, while a four-day non-hopper is costing you $49.25 per day, you're better off just adding the hopper option anyway. More flexibility

It says "RECENTLY USED" or "ALREADY USED" with the all so familiar RED X!

The CM can then scroll through the useage and say "Hey, weren't you at Magic Kingdom 3 hours ago? Sorry, You need the Park Hopping option, buh bye..."
