Ticket Question

I know that with the base ticket you can only go to one park one day no park hopping. But can you buy a 10 day ticket and use two days on one day to visit two parks? Does this make sense? I am not sure how to ask this. I am only asking because we are going for six days but another part of our party is going for 3 days and buying park hoppers. In order for me to park hop those three days I would have to pay a lot more money for my six day tickets but if I bought regular 10 day tickets and burned that three days it would be a lot cheaper. I really do not think we will do any park hopping once they leave. Two little kids I am sure will get very tired doing one park. Any ideas? :confused3

I understand exactly what you are asking. I had the same question myself before we went last week. We had a couple days where we were thinking we may park hop, but weren't sure, and it was much cheaper to add 2 days onto the base ticket rather than add parkhopping. So, I called Disney and had to explain a couple times what I wanted to do, they finally undersood and they said that it would work. Your 6 day ticket allows you 6 park admissions. You can get into several in one day. For example, you can go to all 4 parks in one day, and that uses up 4 "days" on your ticket. So you only have 2 "days" left. I also asked the Ticketmainia guy this same question when I ordered the tickets and got the same answer. I also asked the CM at the front desk of OKW at check-in the same question, and got the same answer. We never did actually use the extra days we purchased, but it was good to know that we were able to do more than one park on a couple of the days, if we wanted. I hope this helps.

I would double-check this. I had read this wasn't possible. I'll try to find where I read it and let you know.

Wonderful. You knew exacatly what I meant. This helps me a lot. Thank you so much for responding. Have a great day. :cool1:

phxdisney, according to the "Admission FAQ" sticky thread in this forum, you CANNOT do that.......

If I have a ticket that does NOT allow park-hopping, can I just use another day from my ticket to get into a different theme park?

No - you won't be able to that. If you want to know why read on. But I warn you - it gets a bit technical. Just a bit though.

The ATS ticketing system is designed to look at your admission in terms of number of days, and whether or not your ticket has park-hopping. It does NOT look at your admission as number of times through a turnstile. For example, if on Monday you went to the Magic Kingdom with a non-park-hopping ticket, and later on Monday evening decided to go to Epcot: when you put your ticket in the turnstile at Epcot, the computer's internal monologue would read something like: "This ticket has been used today. This ticket has NOT been used at Epcot today. This ticket does not allow park-hopping." It then would not release the turnstile.

You can't do that. Here is what I found on allears website:

Am I allowed to use two days off of my MYW Base ticket (non-hopping) if I decide I want to go to a second park on the same day as the first?

No you are not. The tickets are sold and the computer system is based on the number of days you have, not the number of park visits. Once you have used a non-park hopping ticket at any park, the computer system will not let you use it at another park on the same day.

Visiting the theme parks, you must have the hopping option to visit more than one park on one day.

Plusses work according to visits. You can visit two waterparks or other plus venues on the same day, consuming two plusses (and zero days if you did not visit a theme park), or visit a theme park and a plus venue on the same day, consuming one day and one plus, without the hopping option.

The way I figure it is if you got 1 adult base ticket with NO expiration (you may want to go back to DW and you don't want to feel pressure to use the tickets within 14 days, in case someone gets sick or the weather turns bad) for 10 days, that would cost you $329.09 including tax and no discounts (you may want to check to see if AAA has these tickets cheaper) but if you decided to get a MYW park hop for 3 days that EXPIRRES then that alone would cost you $219.39 including tax and then you would need another MYW NO hop 3 day base ticket that EXPIRES and that would cost you $182.12 for a total of $401.12 and you would have to use the tickets then and there because they EXPIRE. So you would be much better off buying the 10 day base ticket with NO expiration. As far as using the ticket for 2 parks in one day, i wouldn't think that would be a problem, but then again maybe that's the catchl. Definatly ask when you call to purchase the tickets!! pirate: :teacher:

This has been discussed at length in the past week. Trust me, you CANNOT do it!!!

As you can see from other posts, it definitely is a problem because you can't do it that way. Sorry.

Not trying to be overly sarcastic here, but it's not like Disney didn't think of this loophole when they re-created the entire pricing scheme of the new MYW passes. They want you there for 10 different days (instead of using a 10-day pass as a 7-day park hopper). They want you to stay in a hotel for 10 days. They want you to eat and drink for 10 days. This is why it's only a few dollars more. It's called enticement.

Okay then. I will just by the park hoppers because it sounds like it can't be done or if it can you may be taking a chance that it actually can not. Any ways it is definatelty not worth the difference of trying it. I think it comes out to be about $100 overall for 4 tickets. So one night we have fast food instead of a nice restaurant. Still going to be at Disney World and Still going to be having a great time.

THANKS FOR EVERYONES INPUT ON THIS. These boards are very nice especially for us first timers. I have been to Disneyland but it is not any where nears as difficult to plan for as this. The last thing I want is to get there and be stuck with something I can not use or did not want to begin with. Park hoppers it is. Ticketmania through the moussavers news letter seems to have the best price.

Thanks again. :cheer2:

Yep, Ticketmania with the mousesavers discount is the cheapest I've found. I think some people have found an occasional special discount thru other vendors... if you look around.

phxdisney,
Like I said in my earlier post, everyone I asked said you could do it. However, I didn't actually try it, so I don't have any first hand experience to draw on. If I were you, I would err on the side of caution and get the park hopper, just to be safe. That is, of course, if you are pretty sure you will be park hopping.

No you cannot go to two separate parks in one day unless you have the PH option. The turnstile at the 2nd park would read the ticket as being used and not let you in. There are no exceptions... you would have to purchase the PH option or an additional one day ticket if you choose to do this.
