Ticket question...

Hi All,

We currently have AP that expire 2 days into our upcoming March trip. Given that we always travel at spring break (I am a teacher), we decided not to renew our AP because getting the Platinum was so expensive. So, we bought the DVC discounted 25th anniversary pass and linked them to My Disney Experience easily. That's the background...I have 2 questions.

1. If we catch the Disney bug while there and decide we want to renew...can we just upgrade our 6- Day DVC passes to AP? Seems we should be able to do that right?

2. Do I need to go to Guest Relations to do anything for our 6 Day tickets? Always had to go to activate AP...is it the same with regular tickets?

THANKS SO MUCH!

1. You can upgrade the DVC to AP. Did you get the DVC with waterparks and more? If so, you have to upgrade to the AP that includes that.

2. Your DVC tickets are active in your account. You don't need to stop by Guest Relations unless you want to make sure your last days of AP are used before the DVC entitlements are used.

Thanks for the info. Will I be able to upgrade my 6 day ticket with the DVC AP renewal rate?

And yes, since my AP expires 2 days into my trip I would be in very bad shape if they use the 6 day tickets for those 2 days. You think I need to stop by for that...that definitely hadn't occurred to me. Thx

Have a great trip!

It won't hurt to stop by to ensure the AP is the first priority ticket. But, if you are upgrading anyway, just stop by and do your renewal as you'll be covered for all your park days with the correct AP being used first.

I had a similar situation on my last trip. I stopped at Guest Services before entering a park for the first time. I was told that they were already prioritized, using the 2 days left on my AP first. I assumed that they went in order of purchase, but if I were you, I would take the few minutes to stop and be sure.

The point hiro was making is that if the OP would simply RENEW the AP immediately after arriving, there would be no chance of "the wrong ticket" being used.

If I have a regular platinum level AP and a DVC 6 day park-hopper with water parks (included as part of the anniversary ticket) then can't I upgrade this ticket with the DVC AP renewal rate for my currect AP (which doesn't include the water park)? Why would I have to renew with water park?

There had been threads by DVC members who said they had to upgrade to the Platinum with water parks due to the nature of the special pricing on the DVC park-hopper.

There have also been threads regarding regular tickets with WP&M being upgraded to any AP as long as the WP&M feature was never used on the regular ticket. @ravenclawtrekkie can better explain your upgrade possibilities.
