ticket question

just the opposite with me.
have stayed onsite since the hotels went up.
in 2014, two trips with ap room rates.

had to show my ap each time when i checked in.

i can't think of a time where i haven't been ask to show it.

i'm guessing they need to check if it was current and renewed.
i have the older preferred passes than what is issued now.

So did you have to activate in the park first, or just show them the pass? I guess I"m confused. Do the passes look like regular tickets? Do they have a date on them?

the ap is on a tyvek paper the size of a credit card.

it will have your name on it and have codes listed on it.

pass will be scanned at the entrance when you enter the parks.

the older ap's are a hard plastic, credit card size with codes, holder's name and photo on it.
tyvek passes replaced the older ap's some years back.

I was online just now to buy an AP. I'm good with paying the $14 to have it shipped Fed EX to me.

Practically speaking with a brand new AP card, what does this mean for me at the park at early entry? Am I going to be delayed (like at Six Flags) to go to a booth for a pix, etc? Do I need to bring my drivers license along for additional proof of ID? The rest of my group will only have regular print at home tickets from Undercover Tourist. I'm buying my AP on the Universal site. Just worried that I am going to slow the family down by getting stuck in some kind of new AP activation/picture taking kind of line at early entry hours. Thanks for any info! Brand new to this AP thing.

I would just do it Will Call. That means you take your CC to the kiosk, follow the instructions, and out pops your tyvek/paper AP. All you have to do is sign it and as you enter the turnstiles you'll set your fingerscan (just like the tickets), and it'll be good.

I personally see no reason to pay more to have the AP sent. The kiosk is just too easy.

And now that there are kiosks at the hotels? Even easier.

There are no pictures, by the way.

Thanks. So I have an APH rate at the hotel. So, basically, I get dropped off by car service, walk to hotel lobby kiosk, get my AP card out of it and sign it and then check in at the front desk for my stay, and the next day I use it in the turnstiles just like the rest of my party's tickets with a finger scan? Just looking at the Power Pass as the next one up seems to cost a lot more and we're not likely to be there on the busy/blackout dates. Assuming the food and retail discounts aren't substantial enough to warrant the next more expensive pass? Mainly just interested in hotel discounts. Would likely renew next year. Based on the discounts for renewal I've read about on this board, it might even make sense to do it for the family too since we should be back in 2016 also.

BTW- This is the nicest overall forum (both USO theme parks section and resorts section.) I've gotten so much helpful information. You all have saved me $500 just tonight switching to a hotel AHP rate! I didn't even know they existed. The other park board can get pretty snarky and mean sometimes. Thank you for helping out all the families out there.
