Does anyone know how much it costs to upgrade a 7 day parkhopper ticket that expires to a 10 day parkhopper that doesn't expire? Does it matter if you get your tickets at a discount? Does it matter if the discount comes from Disney or another broker? So I guess this is 3 questions. :) I hope someone can help. Thanks

Approximately $150. for gate purchased tickets.

People have reported here that for tickets purchased in advance from Disney whether or not part of a package, the upgrade costs the same as for gate purchased tickets.

People have reported here that for tickets purchased from AAA the upgrade costs more, to reflect the fact that AAA got the tickets at a lower wholesale price from Disney. The result is that the purchaser lost the advance purchase discount.

From other brokers such as Ticketmania, I'm not sure.

Generally 10 day non-expiration should be purchased only when the ticket will completely cover two vacations. If you have to use the remains of at most one other partly used ticket to finish the second vacation, it is a close call whether you make out better compared with using expiring tickets for each vacation. If you have to buy a brand new ticket to finish the second vacation, you will usually come out behind.

Good question, I don't know the answer but would be interested in knowing it :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reply. My plan is to use the tickets for two different 5 day vacations. And I was trying to figure out if it would be cheaper to add the extra days to an existing ticket or to buy two seperate 5 day tickets. Hmmm so I can get a 5 day at 224 so multiply by two would be $448 for the two 5 day non- expiring. or I can get a 7 day with the Water Park option for 275.56 and add the 150 for the upgrade would be- 425.56 for a difference of $22.44. Am I figuring this right? Is the tax included in the 150 upgrade price??Hope I am not confusing you all more....

I'm not sure if your math is right or not, but I do know that it would be cheaper to upgrade to the 10-day ticket.

Also as an FYI for others -- there are AAA 10-day park hoppers, non-expiring available. So if you have AAA, you can get a discount at the Park on that 10-day ticket.

princess:

1) It will cost
. . . $2 plus 6.5% tax for each of the extra three days
. . . $135 plus 6.5% tax for non-expire option
2) The concierge should creit you with the days you paid
. . . if bought at Disney Store
. . . if bought through Disney
. . . if bought through AAA
. . . sometimes if you bought elsewhere (eg. Ticketmania) *
3) You are charged the full ticket price, then the price is adjusted backward so it is as if you paid for the 7-days right then and there. It is combersome, but you are not penalized for buying in-advance.

* They are not supposed to adjust prices for non-DS, non-AAA and non-Disney tickets. However, sometimes they do. Depends upon how nice you are to your friendly Lobby concierge.

Thank you for the reply. So it looks like the better way to go would be to do the upgrade and will save around $22. That is if they don't charge me the difference between my discounted disney ticket and the full price. I think I am a little confused still though if they would do this if the discounted ticket comes directly from Disney. So I may give them a call and see what they say. Thanks again.

No the tickets come from Disney not Ticketmania. DH's company gets a substantial discount on tickets but they only offer certain ticket combos. The highest number of days on a ticket that they offer is a 7 day with water park plus feature. But they do offer a 5 day parkhopper. So I was trying to see if it would be cheaper to order 2 five day parkhoppers or go with the discounted 7 day and upgrade.

From your point of view the tickets come from your DH's company!

Since the latter gets the tickdts at a substantial discount as you described, it remains an open question as to whether you have to pay the difference between what the latter paid to Disney and gate price as well as the price of the desired upgrade if you attempt to modify the ticket.

Yeah I guess you are right. When I say they come from Disney it's because we have to print out the form and fax it directly to Walt Disney World Ticketing. They process and mail tickets to us. It isn't anything that is done through the HR dept. of the employer. I am just going to have to call and see what they say. Seems to be no clear cut answer on this one. Thank you for all of your help.

thanks liswel33! Hope everything works out for you!!!

I was wondering if anyone has used ticketmania before? We are going in July and are thinking about buying our tickets thru them!! Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks all!!!
