Ticket question - upgrades

The last time we had annual passes was I think in 2012 so we are overdue for our Disney fix. Unfortunately in the meantime my husband has developed a chronic migraine condition, and quite frankly, he will not want to go as much as the kids and I will. So I am thinking about purchasing 3 Silver annual passes and one 3 or 4 day Florida Resident Discover Disney pass for him.

Here's my question - what is the latest with upgrading passes? If he purchases the 3 or 4 day pass and decides he wants to go "all in", how long does he have to make that decision? Is it 14 days or are the Florida Resident passes treated differently?

Thanks in advance.

Florida resident tickets expire 6 months after first use. So, he either needs to upgrade before he uses up the last day of his ticket available, or before his 6 months are up if he still has days available. Keep in mind though...upgrades have to be done in person at a guest relations location. They can't be done by phone after you've come home.
