I went to Disneyland in 2014 and we got buy 3 days get 1 free. We are planning a march 2020 trip and wondering best time to buy tickets. Is there a time Disney releases promotions? Trying to save as much as possible.

If they are going to have a promo, they are often announced in mid/late January and run through May. They always have some blackout dates usually in March.

But having said that, this year they are opening the Rise of the Resistance attraction in Star Wars land. So a lot depends on whether Disneyland blocks out the lower tier annual passholders the way they did this year. I'm thinking since the crowds were so low this summer they probably won't block any passes so it should be crowded, at least initially, due to the novelty. So that kind of works against the idea that they will have any discounts this coming winter/spring. But you never know. Star Wars has not worked out the way Disney had hoped in the parks and the new attraction might be a bust. Only time will tell.

Try looking on Mousesavers.com for any promotions through authorized third party vendors. Any vendors listed on that site are legit -- there often are deals like what you are describing through discount vendors like UT, aRes, Getawaytoday, etc. Make sure the expiration dates on the tickets will cover your trip dates. If they don't, just wait a bit until they go out further.

Thanks. I’ll just have to decide if I want to take the chance of waiting or buy before January. January they usually raise prices, right?

Block out calendars for September 2020 are already available on the official Disney website. They appear to be following the same pattern as this year with deluxe passes blocked from Disneyland for most of the summer. I am of the camp that believes that Disney will eventually eliminate the deluxe pass. I would not be surprised either to see the flex pass eventually become tiered.

Since the calendars are already posted, I would be surprised if they add further block outs due to the opening of Rise of the Resistance. They will be able to control attendance better as more people buy into the flex pass. I would expect Disney will watch their January post-Rise opening attendance before they make decisions about whether to offer any spring ticket discounts this year, but if the Rise opening finally brings in the crowds, I would be surprised if there are any discounts of consequence.

We are not stars wars fans. But hoping marvel is open is by then. 🤞 thanks for the feedback. I’m still on the fence about when to buy tickets. My luck is the day after I buy tickets an awesome promo will come out. Lol
