Ticket prices! UUGGHH!

I just looked and I think that I can get the fam into Sea World, a water park, MNNSHP, MVMCP and stay at the Fort each time and be under $1K. I could even get the EPCOT after dark pass and do Candlelight at Christmas. I have over 200 Disney dollars from the credit card points that could be used toward the parties. Maybe if enough people ease upon the passes they will take another look and offer us a real deal. Maybe throw in the water parks option for free. :cheer2:

You could also do the water park after 2 option... i think for 6 it was about 300 bucks... a cheaper way to still get the water parks w/o paying the hiked up prices...

I was a charter member passholder until around 2000. Back in the day, they made like these were always going to be bargain deals.
As a Floridian, I agree as someone said this gets you to the park on a frequent basis. Hey, we either stayed at Disney hotels or at the Fort too. I live in Vero Beach, FL and I've known lots of FL peeps who have the tixs from all over and they too stay on site.
Personally, I think Disney would do better to keep prices reasonable. Once they get people in the parks the majority will start spending money on food, whatever.
I agree there should be some sort of loyalty program. My family (I was a child) started going to Disney since day 1. When my parents first stayed at the campground sites were $8. a nite. Rental trailors were a whopping $49 for Terry/Fleetwoods. We're now in our 4th generation of Disney goer as a family and trust me we've never got one really nice perk in years even though I can't even estimate the huge amount of time we have stayed on property. Disney has been losing its luster for me for years as the changes keep coming usually for the worse. Whether its replacing classic rides with shops, removing classic animals like the peacocks from the campgrounds ect.
We have reservations for a long weekend this weekend and I am sure we will get no special treatments even though we such loyalty. Yeah, I don't get worked up about stuff but I have thought before here I have been coming for 30+yrs and never a perk while many first timers probably have hit jackpots with all the promos.
I will also say as a Florida resident who lives near the VeroBeach resort, again I frequent their restraunts onsite which probably helps during the off season.

I live in Tampa and the passes were cool the first year, but after that I want nothing to do with the place. The reason they don't have annual discounted passes for the rest of the world is because they know that Joe Wabuzky from Wisconsin will save for 3 years, take his wife and 2.4 kids down to disney and blow a fortune, and brag to his friends....... Plus they make most of their money off overpriced sodas and popcorn, the pass money covers their fixed costs.

Not to be contrary Gatordad, but more often than not, Joe Wabuzky puts his trip on a credit card, definitely spends a fortune, but it takes him 3 years to pay his trip off instead of saving for it for 3 years before they go.

no, that's Tommy O'hara from Chicago....... they look alike.

Disney's not going to start a comp/frequent spender thing. There are too many lemmings that throw money at them unprovoked, why give a reason.

:) You are always cracking me up and as my 12 year old would say...You ain't right!

I completely agree that there are too many people that are willing to just about give up their homes (not I) to experience Disney! Now I love WDW and will continue to visit as long as I can financially. I am going to come not JUST because of a "special". Incentives are nice, but if I don't have the money, I don't have the money. We budget for vacation (Disney just happens to be our choice spot) and it's the last line item on the budget. It is a luxury and it's the first to go if a paycheck is less than usual for whatever reason? I will not line a multi-billion dollar corporation's pocket to live on Alpo when I retire. And I don't mean that just for Dinsey. I feel that way about the movies and other things that cost an arm and a leg. But that's JMO!

The park I like to go to is Epcot so I can walk around with plenty of beer and plenty of rest rooms. Do they have a frequent drinker's discount?

I always wondered if there was more involved with the discounts than meets the eye. Are they giving some of the discounts to locals as a pay back for deals they cut with the State and Local governments?
I'm pretty sure that in California the discounts are given only for certain zip codes in Southern California and part of Northern Mexico so it still could have something to do with distance.

Could be...the deposed gov of Illinois was here not to long ago. The local TV station tracked him down over at Coronado Springs, sunglasses and all.:rotfl2:

If you all think the annual pass prices are crazy, have you checked the price of a single day pass recently with the park hopper option?

Our neighbor is heading down for a short cruise and looked into single day passes for a one day visit before the cruise, same thing Nancy and I are considering for November. We're talking $133 + per person folks for ONE day and that's just park hopper, no plus options like water parks or DisneyQuest. If you want the premium to add in a water park, now you are talking $186.

We're going to drop $270 to walk into the parks for a day? For TWO of us? I guess we'll have to seriously consider the base ticket with no park hopping, just argue over which park to stay in for the day.

I've got issues, I know.

Me and kari used to do this.
We'd go in june-august, during the summer time they offer fl residents a special 3, used to be 4 day ticket (about a 100$ a ticket). Of course in the old days it was 4 days/park hopper. but never mind that.
The tickets are good all summer long, sometimes up to 6 months. These are not MYW tickets... Just before they expired we would go back and "upgrade" our tickets to seasonals.
It was an easy way to split the cost, so it didn't seem so big upfront. Of course since we were upgrading our tickets, they expire from the first date of use, which would be in the summer. But at the same time it allowed us to visit during a normal black-out time and still only have seasonals.

2006 i actually bought annual passes, orginally bought epcot after 4 passes for 130 bucks, then a few months later upgraded to regular passes.

Now for the other parks... remember that sea world's thing about visit one day, come back all year... it only works for the same year you bought it. Which means you've only got 6 months left.
We bought our seaworld 2 year annual pass on the flex pay and spend 28$ a month on two adult tickets. It's easier for us to pay over time than to come upfront with it. And well you can get just sea world/aquatica for like 10$ a month. We've got all four parks. And at least one person should have a regular annual pass. the savings on parking is enormous. Plus you get 10% off food and merchandise. And now till the end of summer, you can get 30% off food after 5pm.

I love disney and love the fort. But I do need a breather from it right now. Of course I still go here and there because it tugs at me to go.... true love dies hard. And well sometimes it's nice to have good guest service again and the quality i like from disney, that the other parks just don't have.

Is this true? I'm thinking of upgrading to APs for our upcoming trip, and this might tip the scales.

I have seen this offered in the past, but I just checked out mousesavers.com and couldn't find anything currently offered. Be sure to checkout mousesavers website on a regular basis or signup for their free monthly newsletter. There is a ton of info on discounts and savings.
Good luck neighbor. :thumbsup2

We buy the annual passes every year and we have never received a discount for living in Georgia. We do get the discount for renewing. We stay for about 3 weeks in Dec. and January and even if we do not visit again that year, it is cheaper with the AP than covering the days we are there.
Especially since we love the park hopper feature.

It is much too expensive but we love WDW so we just bite the bullet, so to speak, and go anyway.

We also spend about 10 days in TN every Thanksgiving
so we buy the gold AP for Dollywood. We buy regular
AP for the children and our guests and the gold for hubby and me. That way one of us rides in each car and the cars park free. And the 20% discount on EVERYTHING in the park is nice too.

In about 3 weeks we are heading to Florida for a visit to Sea World (haven't been there in about 8 years), Universal Studios and Busch Gardens. We may stay in the FW Campground then too.

Judy, Ken and the 3 special Angels
"Retired and Happy".

I just saw online a Florida resident Universal 2 park pass with no blackout. It is $99. PP and is good thru Dec 31 of this year. If you are interested look for the display at Walgreens

i think you could do a day or two at disney, do seaworld or universal instead of spending all the time at disney. there are tons of other things to do in florida besides disney. spend a day at one of the beaches. visit some of the other florida cities. it always amazes me how many people never venture offsite. disney is awesome but it is only a small part of florida.
