Ticket Prices Increasing June 12th!

Bought the AP before the price increase back in June. Used the pass this Sunday for the first time. Thought the pass won't expire until one year after first use. But expiration on pass show one year after the date of purchase...which is June 2012...

I'm so mad...i lost 2+ months!!!

Then why purchase tickets online ahead of time???

Did you previously have an AP?

Was this a renewal?

Yikes, that's not good!

I haven't activated mine yet, so I'm reading the back of it right now. I'm paraphrasing, but basically it says... valid for one admission to Disneyland to allow exchange of ticket for an AP on the same day, AP expires 1 year from that date of entry.

So an AP voucher should not start until the date you first use it. As long as you meet the redemption requirement (mine is 12/31/2011) the date you purchased it should have nothing to do with it.

Like Dreams suggested, I don't think you can't push out the date on a renewal though. Did you have an old AP that expired in June, and did they somehow process your AP as a renewal instead of a new activation? Did you ask for clarification on the date discrepancy or ask to talk to a supervisor?

I would be upset too!

I also bought a PAP voucher prior to the price increase. It was not activated until I used it in mid-June, and the card I received at the processing center expires one year from that date.

If you were not processing a renewal and you had a voucher, then it should be good 1 year from entry. Mine also needed to be activated by 12/31/11.

Yes, definitely not good. I bought a DAP voucher before the increase in June, with the intention of activating it in Nov. SailorJen, if you're still at the parks, I'd go to either the AP processing center or Guest Services and find out what happened. Your AP should definitely be good for 1 year from your date of activation. It sounds like, for some reason, your AP was activated when you purchased. Find out how that happened, and get someone to make it right. Good luck!

Ticket prices will likely go up even more Worst day for DIS on the markets in the past 10 years and stock is down over 15% on earnings. Trips to the parks are down 2% and too much of DIS earnings comming from ESPN. Lots of other reasons stock is selling off but likely reflect at the gates in the months ahead....

I kid... it sounds like you've done your research and I'm sure you're right.

I read an article that quoted George Kalogridis saying that even after all the price increases most AP holders still rate the value as excellent. I recently took an exit survey that asked that question and I guarantee I was not among the majority that rated value to price paid as excellent. But I'm sure as long as most folks keep paying the price, they'll keep testing the limits.

Okay, I did a search and found this post from SailorJen pondering the possibility of doing the old 2fer deal and upgrading to an AP. In that case, the AP would be an upgrade.

SailorJen, is this what you did? If so, then the AP is indeed backdated to the date of first use of the ticket you are upgrading. Technically, that ticket is the start of your AP.

Was the pass you received a paper voucher or a plastic card? Did you purchase online or over the phone???

I never got the chance to get the 2-fer. So i only bought the AP online before the price increase in June. Voucher indicated that it must activate on/before 12/31/11. It's not a renew, so i first use the voucher in August thinking it would expire 'til Aug 2012.

I'll need to go back and get my 2 months back! Hope they'll change it!
