Ticket Prices Increasing June 12th!

Actually like I said the higher price PH offer $40 off online. That is the 5 and 6 day PHs. The 3 days are $20 off for buying online. 4 day PH is in the middle at $30 off for purchasing online.

oh, sorry. my bad. Just glad I bought my tickets last month.

Except, that you can't get a new pass if you have an existing pass. I just called to ask about doing the exact same thing since DH's pass expires in early August. Apparently, you can only renew within 40 days (too far out by a few days in our case) and if you try to get a brand new pass, the system won't allow it as one person cannot have two APs at the same time. - sigh -

Ah, so if you let more than 40 days go between your old pass and your new pass, then you should be all set with buying a voucher now and using it for a new AP? We actually don't have any trips planned, so it would probably be worth it to just not take a trip for a couple months to buy a voucher at today's prices.

I wonder if there's any way to buy a voucher for an AP and get the DVC discount....

As long as I'm understanding you correctly, then if your current AP's expire prior to June 12, you can just buy the vouchers. No need to wait 40 days after it expires. The 40 days is for if you want to renew, and you can renew 40 days BEFORE your current pass expires. You just can't have a valid AP and buy a voucher for a new one.

No problem. You should feel lucky. I have a couple weeks before going and need tickets for DS. While my instinct is to buy them right now. I have this little bit of hope that a new special offer will come out on Sunday too that will work for his ticket.

Why couldn't you buy a voucher for the new one? If you go to the Disney Store (where they don't put your name on them), you should be able to do so.

OR, go to the ticket booth and buy them and tell them you don't want to activate them.

Now I'm confused.

Are you saying:

You have a current AP.
You want to buy an AP voucher now.
You will let your current AP expire.
You will turn in your voucher AFTER your AP expires.

Is that what you are proposing?

No, my passes expire in July. Just called the AP number to clarify. You can buy your voucher and use it if you have a valid AP and let the current AP expire. Then it's technically a new AP and not a renewal. The voucher will be valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.

See Disney Dream's post. She called and inquired. Maybe if you buy the card somewhere else and they don't ask for a name you can do it, but you can't buy it online because when you enter your information, it will flag you as already having one.

Yes exactly. I guess the key point is when does the voucher expire, and I called to find out. It expires 1 year from the date of purchase.

In that case, it contradicts what Disney Dreams was told when she called, which doesn't surprise me, as CM's give unreliable answers most reliably ;)

Yes, they said something about buying it as a gift to get around that. I haven't checked out whether you can do that online though. I'll probably just stop by a Von's this weekend and pick up the vouchers.

Technically, what The Donut is proposing is slightly different than what I asked when I called. I did not ask about buying a voucher online and turning it in later. I asked about buying a new AP tomorrow.

Sounds like what The Donut asked about would work, in fairness to the CM. The renewal discount would be lost, but the price increase would not be incurred. Clever thinking, The Donut.

With all the talk of the annual passes, are the actual park hopper tickets going up?? I'm confused I think...

We need the 4 day park hoppers for October. Should I buy now??

Thanks!!

Someone please explain this to me. I want to buy the AP Voucher for the Deluxe Pass.

I have DVC, would like to use the discount.

I currently have a pass that doesn't expire until September.

Can I go to Guest Relations (or even the store) and buy a vouncher, get a DVC discount, and not activate it?

Please please say yes.

Thanks! I guess if the price increase were less than $20, it wouldn't be worth it since as you point out you lose the renewal discount. But it seems to be more than that for all passes.

These price increases are really quite amazing. We originally bought the Costco deal for passes, which I believe was $269 and with a $50 gift card for the deluxe! That was just 2 years ago. I wish the stock market climbed this fast!

I guess they have to pay for all the new attractions somehow.

I don't know, but if the answer turns out to be yes, it looks like we might be heading to DL this weekend. Do let us know.

But then it's cash for the whole amount. I can't swing $2,000 right now, just crying here!

That is a tough question. If you buy right now you will save $18 for each adult 4day PH comparing gate price announced to gate price that is current. Probably the $30 online disount will remain, though it could bump up with the new ticket prices to $32 or $35 off.

What makes it tough is the last few years when we knew the price increase was happening in August we knew what the fall special was so we could decided to buy or wait comparing if the special offer would outwiegh the price increase. Now we are left not knowing what the Fall special could be.

Any one know if this price will change on the premier pass too? We have one more year before our DD goes into K so we are doing as many trips as our DVC and airfare can swing. so the premier pass works for us right now its $$ but still cheaper to do it that way even with our one trip a year to WDW.
