Ticket Prices - 06/07/09

Great idea for a thread! :thumbsup2

I just found this, £64.43 for the Universal 2 Park ticket!
I'm thinking there must be some kind of catch, because it looks like a great deal. The only thing I'm unsure of is what to put in as the date on the ticket. I'm travelling on September 2nd but I'm unlikely to be using the tickets on my first day, do you reckon it would expire 7 days after the date I give them, or 7 days after my first use? Hope that makes sense!

It says on the sites Additional Info that all days must be used within 7 days of first admission - including the first day. This sounds normal to me as most start to run from first day of use.
It also says that they will send you an email confirmation once booked with a link to your voucher, which is then presented on arrival for redemption.
As you said though the price is very good. I have not had any dealings with this company so it comes down to whether you are comfortable with them, or if anyone can come on and offer peace of mind.

Would you be buying APs because you are visiting more than once - or just for the discounts and free parking.
If it's the former I guess you just need to do the sums and see which works best.
If it's for the discounts etc then only one of you needs to buy it.

i should clarify that our company travel agent is located in the UK...which is why she can buy the tickets...

anyway....

i always bought the APs because we would come for such a long time (usually for 3 weeks), so the APs made the most sense...
if we happened to fit two trips on the same AP that was gravy...

but this time we'll only be there for 14 days....and buying those UK tickets is a pain for me (since i have to pay the UK travel agent a huge premium to get her to buy them for me)...

it's just the unlimited thing is so good for us, since we have this tendency to just pop in and out of places.....in one day we'll often go to two parks, plus a waterpark, plus disneyquest (no we're not hyperactive - just have short attention spans)..

i don't know what to do.....the APs are a fortune...
but if we end up coming back within the year and i don't get the APs now, i'm going to feel like a complete idiot that i didn't invest in APs to begin with...

Never bought tickets from Viator but used them for tours in New York they were OK.
The 7 day ticket is similar price direct with Universal or thru Dreams Unlimited Travel, bought tickets thru both of these no problems. They are both $99.99 + tax, depending on exchange rate on the day its about £65.

For an extra £13 you can get a 14 day unlimited ticket http://www.universalorlando.com/uk/tickets.html

Obviously I don't know how old your kids are but having just done a quick calculation based on 4 adults buying either APs or 2 lots of 14 day ultimates I get the prices to be as follows.

14 Day Ultimate Tickets = £1720 (+ any extras for your travel agent)

Premium Annual Passes (includes water parks, DQ etc) = $599 x 4 = $2396. At an exchange rate of 1.62 that comes in at around £1480. Add to that the free parking and other discounts and I know which one I would go for, unless I am missing something really obvious (which happens more than I care to admit ;))

Of course if you decide to go twice in one year then this is a no brainer, but if you only end up going once would you end up being able to recoup enough of the £500 price difference on parking or discounts? If you went to the park every day you could save $168 in parking fees, which would leave you with the question of whether you would regret the £400 loss if you only went once.

Hope this helps

I was originally going to get the tickets through Universal but you need a credit card to purchase them and I haven't made my mind up about whether I'll be applying for one yet. There are a number of good reviews on the site though, so I think I might just go for it :thumbsup2

thanks for crunching the numbers!! :goodvibes
it's actually only 3 of us this time - DS is married now and not traveling with us....so it's just DD, DH and me...
my mom, sister and nephew will fly down from detroit for part of the time, but i'll just buy them magic your way tickets for whatever days they come...

so i guess, the APs make the most sense....there is a very good chance i'll be back in may (since the conference i attend in May is usually in florida - usually in tampa, at moffet, but this year it was in orlando...so maybe next year it will be again)...

and DD might well go again next summer before the AP expires...
so it makes sense...

for some reason the prices are more disturbing to me than they were in the past....we always stayed GF concierge or something similar...but this year we're staying pop because i couldn't bring myself to spend that much money...

thanks for this thread- it should be made into a sticky!! :thumbsup2

Possibly should be made a sticky, as you know I said we were considering it.
After consulting with Tim I agree with what he says, people don't read sticky's. Just look at the Hotel pictures Sticky, no new pictures in last 2 months after it was made a sticky plus only 1 post in last 2 months(from a new member)
If Kenny is willing to update the thread every week and others post between his updates the thread will stay on the 1st page mainly and doubt it will ever drop below 2nd, so easy to find.
Its a great, very helpful thread but think its working well as it is for now.

this is a great thread guys:thumbsup2
