Paragraph 2 of that articles states "Rumors are circulating..." And they mention "rumor" several times in that article.

Actually a better rumor is that all ticket prices will be lowered by at least 10%. That is just as valid.

Normally Ticket Price increases always go into effect on a Sunday. The earliest Disney will usually announce the increases is late on a Friday afternoon.

The only people who know in advance are some managers and high level people, the programmers for the ticketing computers, and the people who make signs and printed materials.

Often many of us who sell tickets find out when we come in and find that the prices on our terminals are changed, and the sheets we have in the booths to show Guests their choices are new.

Well, we complain when things don't improve and aren't fantastic.

Then, we complain when prices for tickets go up.

How are things supposed to get better without earning more money?

Again, no offense to the OP, it's just that I understand that prices may have to increase. Could be naive, but that's how I feel.

I was just pointing out an article I found about ticket prices rumored to be increasing. We all know they are going to increase and understand why they have to.

Going off on a slightly different tangent here, {not insulting anyone} but I hope they do increase the prices. Maybe that will help lessen the unbearable crowds that have been prevelant at WDW lately. I would love to have a "sparser" time, crowd-wise for a change.

With all of the other promotions going around, I find it hard to believe that it would be good PR for Disney to raise ticket prices.

I, too, wonder about the PR wisdom of a ticket price increase when things are not improving in the economy. I wouldn't begrudge them if they did raise prices, as I think inflation is going to hit us all harder than a Mack truck, but I do wonder...

Fuel costs fluctuating, and with veggie prices alone up something like 21% last quarter or something nuts like that, there is no way a company can NOT raise prices right now.

I don't begrudge them the need to raise prices but I just got a Free Dining pin code for a December visit which I've never seen or heard of before. Raising the "rack rate" on tickets while trying to increase attendance seem contradictory.

Honestly, the people that really can't afford to go to Disney are not going to go in this economy no matter what. Even if the economy gets better they still probably will not go.

Personlly I feel like if I can afford a $2000-$3000 trip what is an extra $100 in ticket prices. If I am tight on the $100 then I prolly shouldn't be going in the first place.

If Walt Disney World stays true to form, you can expect a ticket price hike on August 2. Since Disney shifted to August price increases in 2006, the last price hikes have occurred on:

Looks like Sunday, August 2, 2009 is in the headlights for this year. Bear in mind that this is all speculation, as Disney may elect to keep prices stable in light of the global recession. That's not a likely occurrence, as Disney's costs continue to rise each year, but it's possible. If there is an increase, it will likely be approximately $4, since that's been the amount of the increase the past three years.

Prices are set at the beginning of August so that Disney can start assigning package prices for the next year. Once the price increase goes into effect, Disney will then start booking packages for 2010. (So look for 2010 dining plan pricing to be announced at the same time.)

Price increases are usually announced no eariler than Friday afternoon, so we'll try to give you a heads-up once word gets out.
