Ticket price for one person is different than for two

Southwest has the flight I would like to change my ticket to at a reasonable price for one adult. When i put in two adults the price increases $70 each.
What are the chances of getting two single tickets for the lower price?

The chances are not good today.

Only one ticket is available at the lower price now. You could book it separately at the lower price. Then book the second ticket, possibly waiting for the price to come down again.

If I paid the higher price for 2nd ticket and it went down in price would I get credit for another flight later on this year?

you would have to change the reservation.
the credit difference would be good for 1 year from the date originally booked (not flight date), and only good for the same passenger.
same thing happened to us: i booked DD's flight for $110, and mine for $140 (only one seat was available for $110). thankfully, i used SWA RR points, so the time and passenger restrictions do not apply - the points would go back into my RR acct

I checked the flight again this morning and the flight I wanted was available for 2 adults. We even have a credit from our other flight. This means we will get to sleep in and then enjoy the resort a 8 more hours before leaving. SWA is the only airlines I will check for flights now on. (unless they are way to high). Doing happy dance.
