I fell for it again. We are going to see Celtic Woman at Radio City Music Hall in March. This will be the 3rd year we are seeing them for St. Patrick's Day.

I got an email from American Express for a pre-sale on the tickets. Why did I fall for that? If I had waited til now I could have gotten better seats :headache:

This happened last summer for the Toby Keith concert as well. I always panic and think if I wait all the tickets will sell out; then find out I should have waited, they hold the better seats.

Pre-sales are just that pre-sales. They do NOT sell all available seats in a pre-sale. They reserve a certain number of seats around the venue and those are sold. In fact, different pre-sales have different tickets. By law, they cannot sell all available tickets in a pre-sale and they must have all sections available for every sale including general.

Pre-sales, however, do sometimes (depending on what presale it is) give you a chance at tickets , whether good or bad, when its a popular show and the general sale will be bombarded but it in no way is a presale set to sell only the best tickets or all venue seats. Many times, Ive been able to get better seats through general sales.

The whole ticket business is awful right now, especially with the brokers already getting the best seats before anything goes on sale.

But I hope you enjoy your show!

It's so frustrating, they make it sound like Amex has better seats when actually they always seem to sell the seats on the sides of the theatre first. It happened when I bought tickets through a public television station as well. We paid more for the seats as a donation to the TV station and could have gotten better seats through the box office.

I will try to be brave and wait next time
