Ticket plan feasible?

Trying to figure out a scenario based on the "rules".

We have:
2 adult MYW and 1 child (PH, NE, WFM) tickets with 2 major days left (activated in 2007). 2nd child was under 3 when we last visited.

We need:
4 days in the major parks (will need park hopper) for 2 adults and 2 kids. 1 day in Typhoon Lagoon.

The plan:
Buy 2 adult 10 day MYW (NE, PH) tickets.
Buy 2 kids 10 day MYW (NE, PH) tickets.

Use up the old 2 days for 3/4 of the family. Use the 1 kid pass for the first 2 days then upgrade it at the end to match up with remainder that everyone else has. We will buy 1 day in Typhoon Lagoon for the 2nd child.

Am I missing something? 8 days at the end of the vacation is perfect for 2 more trips based on previous usage.

Thanks in advance,

Jason

My head isn't much in the zone for this sort of thing, but you CANNOT upgrade a ticket past 10 days, which I think is what you are thinking of doing for the second child ticket.

Make sure it makes financial sense to even do this. Non-expiring tickets don't make much sense to use unless you can cover a whole trip, not just part of it (as in the case you have now). For a four-day trip it isn't as bad as a longer one however. You may have to do a variety of different calculations to be sure, but the focus is on how much you are saving using the two remaining days vs. how much they cost you.

I think part of the plan is to take one of the new 10 day passes and use it for a couple days, then put days back on to make it 10 again? That's not possible. You can only have 10 days total on a ticket (unless you're from the UK where they have longer passes). So the youngest's ticket will be "off" from the other three.

So I'd look at the costs of just buying what the youngest needs for this trip, then getting a matching ticket on the future trip (8 day NE PH to match). Or getting the 10 day this time and in the future you'll have to work it out (might be more expensive to do that for ticket-price-rising reasons).

Thanks.

I was trying to figure out some way to upgrade the 1 child ticket back up to 8 days after using 4 from the 10 day package I planned to buy.

The adults and 1 child would use 2 days out of the 10 days so I would just have to buy the difference for the second child. I wasn't sure if buying the 4 day difference was against the rules as he would have 6 days left and i would be buying enough to get him to 8.

Back up plan is to buy 6 days for the adults and 1 child and have 4 days left after this visit. We would purchase an 8 day ticket for the second child so that he would have 4 days left.

Cheers,

Jason

Thanks ... that was exactly the info I needed. Too bad I was typing while at work so added an extra post before I read yours.

Magic Your Way tickets used more than 13 days ago may no longer be modified.

Once you acquire a 10 day non-expiring ticket, it doesn't make any difference in what order you use its days versus use up the days of any older tickets you still own. But you may be in for a bad bargain if the 10 day doesn't cover two whole vacations during which no other ticket cards were used for the main theme parks.

One way to figure out how much you have invested in the leftover ticket after one vacation's usage:
1. Take the total cost of the ticket when new.
2. Figure out the cost of an expiring ticket that would have just covered the previous vacation.
3. The investment in the last 2 days is the difference. For a 10 day ticket, it's somewhere around $230., or about $225. for non-expiration plus $3. for day #9 plus $3. for day #10.
