I hope his is the right place, I didn't see a ticket related sub board. We are DVC members and FL residents. We currently have active seasonal passes and 7 day non expiring park hopper tickets. I also have vouchers for renewal of the seasonal passes which expire in Aug as well as vouchers for new seasonal passes. We are going the week before Xmas when FL resident, Seasonal passes, Silver and Gold passes will all be blacked out and will be there 7 nights. There are 5 of us that this info fits plus a couple who won't have passes some of which may be going for a shorter period of time. I didn't think this the best use of the non expiring tickets. I'm not that well versed in ticket upgrades and conversions so I wanted to get thoughts here. Just ooking at the 5 with seasonal passes here are the options I see for consideration.

  1. Renew the seasonable passes in Aug and then upgrade them for Dec to platinum using the FL resident/DVC discount. That would give us access at that time, park hopper (not overly important to us) and the photos. We may not go again within the year but could likely squeeze in a weekend or 2. Am I correct in thinking the upgrade price would be the difference between the Gold and Platinum renewal price of $100? Total price renewal $549 for reference.
  2. Activate new seasonable passes in Dec then immediately upgrade them. Since I won't be able to use them first would I be able to get the current value for the seasonal pass or just the value paid? Total price $649 good 3.5 months longer.
  3. Get new DVC special MYW passes of 5, 6 or 7 days with park hopper/WP&M (cheaper than UT). $410-429 at UC, I don't have the DVC price in hand at this moment.
  4. Get new regular MYW passes base ticket only. $322-346
Thanks.

If you are not planning to go to WDW more then once with a possibility of a weekend here and there during the upcoming year why get an AP pass for all 5. I think I would get the MYW passes instead. Now if you would like to have some of the benefits of an AP pass then, I would buy 1 AP pass in Dec and 4 MYW passes for the others in the party. Now in the upcoming year if you decide on going to WDW I would use the non-expiring tickets along with the annual pass to go to WDW.

I would look at getting the base ticket, if you know that you don't need the hopper and or the WP&M. I would not use the non-expiry for this but save that for the weekends that you pop down for, much better use with day or 2 here and there.
The only reason to renew or get new AP is if you were going to get more than 10days in the year out of them.
Of course you can use the combination of all if the whole party of 5 isn't who you travel with all year.
Hope this helps and doesn't add to the confusion.

Thanks, a combination is what I'm thinking with either one or 2 Platinum passes (1 per couple) but that does create some with park hopping options and some potentially without.

Thanks, part of my question and really the biggest part ultimately, is the question of how the upgrades would work on the passes. By phone for the renewal and possibly upgrade and price difference to the Platinum.

You got the right board!
Thanks for letting me know.
