i just booked our first family vacation to Disney last night. Tonight I realized the tickets I picked are only good until 3/1. We aren’t going until August!
Will they give me a different ticket package? Or am I out the 2k in tickets we can’t use?
Did you get your tickets from the Disney website? The majority of their tickets are date based so I'm trying to understand how you got tickets that expire on a date before you were going to be there. I'm going to assume, you got something like their 4 day tickets, where it's for each of the four parks and you cannot repeat any of the parks, you have to visit them all? I have the FL Resident Discovery ticket which isn't date based per se. It expires on June 30th and it's good from the time I'm there plus a few days beyond. From June 2nd to June 8th I believe. We are only going to be there from the 2nd-6th. Disney is really good about putting expiration dates on their special tickets. I check them carefully before purchasing to make sure they work with our trip dates.
As the PP said, give Disney a call and I'm pretty sure they will just tell you that they will put the cost of the tickets you have towards your new ones. If it's more expensive of course you'll have to come out your pocket for the rest. GOOD LUCK!
I just checked Disney's ticket page and you did exactly what I thought....you got the 4 Park Magic Value Ticket. What I think you might need is this one:

Enjoy one admission to each of our 4 theme parks—Magic Kingdom park, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom park. One park per day. Tickets are valid from January 18, 2019 – March 14, 2019, March 27, 2019 – April 9, 2019, April 27, 2019 – May 27, 2019 and
August 19, 2019 – September 30, 2019.
Do those August dates work for you? You can't start use till the 19th of August.
