We are going this Sept. and will be doing the 2 parks/1 day. Next Aug. we will be going back and staying for 2 nights at Universal - so we will need tickets for at least 2 days. I believe buying annual passes will be cheaper - my main question is - if you have annual passes can you still buy the express plus ticket that lets you skip the lines? We would need that for this year but not next because we plan on staying onsite next year. Any help would be greatly appreciated just don't want to make the wrong the decision!!!

Yes...anyone can purchase the Express Plus passes regardless of being a passholder or not. I would purchase the EP until you got there since they are date specific and non-refundable.

Thanks!! One more question the ap's I'm looking at purchasing have "blackout" dates there appear to be two different types of blackout dates right now the dates we are going in 2010 aren't under any of those blackout dates - what happens if that changes? I'm assuming its just considered bad luck?!?!?

Yeah pretty much...if Universal decides to change the blackout dates next year, you're stuck. You might want to consider purchasing the Preferred AP since you get free parking, park discounts and no blackout dates. Just something to think about. ;)
