My first DVC contract is in flight and we're weighing various vacation options once everything is finalized (we've passed ROFR) and I'm curious about DLR tickets and if there is a DLR/WDW PAP (the PAP that lets you visit both DLR&WDW) discount. We've got a trip planned to WDW in August that we're going to rebook as DVC when things get finalized but we're considering moving that to DLR. The kind of catch is that we're also thinking of going to WDW in March 2016. We were thinking if we did August/March then we'd definitely get APs, but if we do DLR & WDW then that won't do us much good. The standard PAP price of $1029+tax is way more than we'd spend on tickets, but if there was a substantial enough discount we could pop for that instead.

disneyland isn't much of a thing at this point for DVC.

you get about $150 off the price of a wdw AP as a DVC member.

you get $20 off a disneyland AP as a DVC member.

you get zero off a premiere passport.

i think they offered a one-time deal early last year for the passport ($130 off) but that has expired and there's no telling if or when they might offer another deal like that.

Any just regular ticket discounts for either DLR or WDW? Is DVC even slightly realistic for GCH if it's not your home resort?

no regular ticket discounts, no

wdw had a $199 4parks/4 days special recently, but you had to do one park a day and go to each park. no hopping or spending 2 days at the MK, for example.

you can see a size comparison for VGC on the DVC Resource Center thread:

BWV - 97 Dedicated Studios - 130 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 0 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 149 Lockoffs - 7 Grand Villas = 383 Villas / 532 Max. Available

VWL - 20 Dedicated Studios - 27 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 44 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 45 Lockoffs - 0 Grand Villas = 136 Villas / 181 Max. Available

BCV - 36 Dedicated Studios - 20 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 78 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 74 Lockoffs - 0 Grand Villas = 208 VIllas / 282 Max. Available

SSR - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 360 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 432 Lockoffs - 60 THV - 36 Grand Villas = 888 Villas / 1320 Max. Available

AKV - 46 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1BR villas - 140 Dedicated 2BR villas - 250 Lockoffs - 22 GVs. 134 villas within Jambo House at AKL (46 Dedicated Studios, 82 Lockoff 2BRs, 6 GVs) and 324 villas in Kidani Village (140 Dedicated 2BRs, 168 Lockoff 2BRs, 16 GVs) for a total of 458 Villas / 708 Max. Available

BLT - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1BR villas - 148 Dedicated 2BR villas - 133 Lockoffs - 14 Grand Villas = 295 Villas / 428 Max. Available

VGC - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1BR villas - 23 Dedicated 2BR villas - 23 Lockoffs - 2 Grand Villas = 48 Villas / 71 Max. Available

VGC is not impossible at 7 months out but i wouldn't count on being able to book it either...

Are the dedicated rooms only DVC vs available for the public?

"dedicated" means it's a dedicated 2BR villa, which means it can only be booked as a 2BR villa and the 2nd bedroom typically has 2 queen beds and no kitchenette.

a "lockoff"/"lockout" OTOH means a 2BR villa that can be locked-off (via a middle door) into a studio unit and a 1BR unit. these also have 2 separate entrances.

"dedicated" for studios and 1BRs also means they can only be booked as a studio or 1BR, respectively, and do not connect to another unit.

Cool! Thanks for the explanation!
