Ok, I am not sure what type of ticket to buy. Here is the situation. We will be in disney at Easter for 6 days, and we will be back in October for 4 days.
I am not sure whether to get an AP for $420 or a 10 day MYW park hopping no expire ticket for $353. When we go in October we are hoping to stay at the Poly a huge, huge splurge for us (last trip to disney for a long time), so I am leaning towards AP for the possible discounts. Right now I have us booked for Easter with the BDP code and if I change it to the AP code it will save us $60, but I am not even sure if I can apply the code or if they are sold out of their AP rate rooms. Should I spend the extra money on the AP and hope and pray for discounts? Will I kick myself if I buy the AP and there ends up being a general public code that is almost as good?
What to do?
Help!!!

You only need 1 AP to book the AP rates for rooms. I just booked AKL with AP rate for Easter so maybe you can still get POP or maybe be able to upgrade to a mod for same as POP is now. You can call CRO and ask for AP rate before you even buy it. You only have to have it at check in. Everyone else can get the MYW if you are positive you wouldn't use the AP again.

we are already booked at CSR. The ap rate there (if i can get it) would only save us an additional $10 per night or $60 total.

Anybody else?

With an AP, you get free parking at the parks which is $8 per day, or $80 for your 10 days. If this is something you will use, it will be cheaper to get the AP.

Also, the 10-day has limited visits to the extra attractions, like water parks, Disney Quest, Pleasure Island, Wide World of Sports. With an AP, you can come and go as you please to those.

I like the flexibility of being able to pop into, say a water park or Disney Quest, for just an hour or two and leave again, without feeling like I've wasted a whole day's admission.

There are other discounts with an AP that you should have a look at, and if you think you will take advantage of any of those, the AP may work out cheaper.

And then you always have the option of going back yet again before the year is up and your entry fee will be paid. :)

Great answer by Susan. Those were the benefits of an AP that I was going to mention. There is also a $25 discount on the Disney Dining Experience (DDE) with an AP if you're planning on getting that.

I would take a chance since the AP is only $67 more, that you will be able to save at least that much with some AP discounts.

Keep in mind that you would need a more expensive PAP to do this, not the AP.

It's a decision but for me if you know your definitely going back in Oct. then get the no expiration added to the tickets, no question....Are you getting just the park hopper or the magic plus?

You get free parking at the parks if you are staying on-site, too, don't you?
I know that we did in May.

This is only possible if you purchase the Premium Park Hopper, which is at least $531.

You will also get free parking by staying onsite.

I would not buy AP's for the entire family unless I was sure I would get in 12 theme park days, either by extending the existing vacation plans or taking a third vacation.

The roughly 12 day break even applies both to hopping non-plus MYW / regular AP, and premium MYW / premium AP.

Finding a limited booking time or limited stay time "everybody" room rate within $20. of the AP rate for value resorts and moderates is not unusual.
