Ticket and resort Question

My family and I are checking in to the CR next week. We have a package booked and are staying three nights. My niece is in college in the area and would like to come over one night and stay and tour the parks the next day with us. My questions are: Will the resort allow her to stay(we would not be over occupancy and I would pay the extra for her to stay the night) with us for just the one night since we are on a package? Can I purchase a Florida Resident ticket for her if she brings her school ID? Thanks so much for any help!

You should be able to, but I'd go ahead and add them before you arrive just to avoid any problems. They couldn't be on any dining plan and they would not receive a magic band. As for buying their tickets, I am not familiar with resident tickets at all.

As long as you are not over capacity, you should have no problem adding her at check-in for the specific days. I would definitely wait until either check-in or the day she arrives since you have a package reservation.

As for the resident ticket, I am not 100% sure if they allow for only the student ID to give them a resident ticket. I do remember reading that some of the universities around Orlando have special ticket prices that they can get from their student union. I would have your niece check to make sure she does not get a better deal there.

If the extra person is added prior to arrival, she will have to be included in the entire package. Wait until check-in or after to add the extra person so as to avoid this.

We had a similar issue where we had a friend with an AP join us in our room for a few days. It took a ton of arguing (at the resort and at the park) to get her added on to our reservation so that she could come into EMH with us as a resort guest. It was like we were trying to cheat them. They said she wasn't included in our package and everyone in the room had to be on the same package. That didn't seem quite fair to me as she has an AP. Why shouldn't an AP holder be allowed to stay in a room with us and have the benefits? It's not like she isn't already giving Disney a ton of $$.

That's tricky because when you book a package everyone is supposed to have the same package meaning tickets, dining plan, etc. If you did a room only it would be less of an issue. You could put her on at the beginning with or without tickets. You'd also need to consider FP+ reservations though. If you don't add her until she arrives you likely won't get FP+ for the same times.

As for the Florida resident pass I'm not sure but I would think as long as she has her ID it wouldn't matter who pays for it. Worst case maybe be prepared with cash instead of credit card.

Just going by my own experience, but we were told to add them as soon as we could. I prefer to handle issues over the phone rather than waste time while I'm there.

I was curious about the student ID and whether it would qualify for Florida Resident Ticket. This is from Disney's site and it's not listed as a valid form of ID for resident tickets.

Florida Resident Tickets:
Proof of a Florida residential address is required. For each ticket purchased for an adult, you may provide any of the following:

• Valid Florida driver's license
• Valid Florida state-issued ID card (must have a Florida address)
• Valid Florida-based military ID

If you do not have one of the IDs indicated above, then for each ticket purchased for an adult you must provide one of the following dated within the last 2 months and evidencing a Florida residential address (not a PO Box) together with a corresponding picture ID (passport, driver's license, state identification card):

• Monthly mortgage statement
• Florida vehicle registration or title
• Homeowner's insurance policy or bill
• Automobile insurance policy or bill
• Utility bill
• Mail from a financial institution, including checking, savings or investment account statement
• Mail from a federal, state, county or city government agency

The persons who will use the Florida Resident adult tickets must be present at the time of ticket pick up. A print of an electronic bill of the type described above is acceptable. Photocopies and fax copies of bills are not acceptable.

The CMs were in the wrong and you were right.

At the resort, in person, they allow you to add a person to the room, as long as you're not over occupancy and you pay the extra per night cost for an extra adult. Once you're there, you can add them for a partial stay.

Eventually, the hotel staff gave in and we had a nice CM at guest services at EPCOT that straightened it all out but clearly everyone was not on the same page.

My sister planned to join us on a past trip and we were told not to add them until they got there.
