Ticket Advice

I purchased 3 PAP's for our trip when they were $399 but unfortunately did not purchase one for my other adult DD as she said she probably would not be able to go back in the next year.

Looking at the prices for tickets (wow have they gone up from 4 years ago!) I probably should have since we will be there for 8 days and I think she may change her mind on another trip once she is there.

My choices are:

*Purchase a regular PH ticket for $365 through Undercover Tourist
*Use a 7 day non-expiring pass we have not used (but I think this would be better utilized on a shorter trip - I noticed they are over $500 now.
*Buy an annual pass at the DVC rate

If I buy the Undercover Tourist ticket can I upgrade to the DVC pass if we decide on an annual pass?

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

If you purchase a discount ticket from UT, yes you can use that as a credit towards a DVC priced AP. You would want to use the ticket once on the same trip that you intend to purchase the AP on so that Disney will bridge it to current gate pricing. This will allow you to pay less for the ticket but get more for it when you upgrade to the AP.

Yes, as long as you do the upgrade within 14 days of the first use of the original ticket.

Upgrades must be done on site. If you use the ticket at least once before you do the upgrade, you will pay only the difference between the current gate price of the original ticket and the current price of the DVC pass. Make sure that the gate price of the original ticket is less than the cost of the DVC pass. The CMs are not supposed to give "change" for upgrade transactions. (Anyone who reports that they received change was granted an exception or was the recipient of the pixie dust due to an untrained CM).

So it looks like my best option would be to purchase a 10 day hopper or 10 day hopper & water park through Undercover Tourist.... use it once and then if we want we can upgrade?



One other question... we may have a non expiring ticket floating around for her with a few days - would that be worth upgrading or just holding on to for a short trip?

Again - make sure that the gate price (not the UT price) of the 10 day ticket is LESS than the cost of the DVC pass you want. Be sure to compare both with tax or both without tax). If the 10 day ticket costs more, you will either be refused the upgrade or lose money.

But I think given your situation, I would buy a pass form UT and upgrade after you arrive if you think your daughter will benefit enough from having the DVC AP. I am assuming your daughter qualifies for the DVC pass and that she has photo ID that shows your address.

A word of warning on the Water Park option. If you use a Water Park option, your only upgrade option will be a Premium Annual Pass which is currently $559 for DVC Members.

If the No-Expire ticket has had any days used already, you can only upgrade if it has been 14 days or less since first use of the ticket.

Yes, she has our permanent address on her ID... and with an annual pass and these loooooong winters I think she could be convinced to do another trip

Disney was smart selling those PAP's to DVC owners. Locals would benefit from it the most, but most DVCr's aren't local, thereby likely increasing traffic by a whole different group.

I hope they do the discount again!

Me too. We're planning 3 trips between jan. and jan. totaling 18 days. That discounted PAP sure would've been great.
We have 2 10 day no exp. tickets though that we're using 1 set is even water parks and more fun.

Yes. Buy now is a good plan. Tickets price increases are rumored for April this year instead of the usual June. Non Expiration tickets are rumored to be discontinued as well.

If it were me, I would probably buy the # of days ticket you need from UT, and during the trip if you decide AP is needed for more days later in the year, then upgrade while you are there AFTER you have used the ticket at least one day take it and upgrade to an AP.
