OK- stick with me here...
my 3 kids have magic your way passes with 3 days left on them-
we have the chance to go to WDW this March :cool1: for 6 days-
(I know I should've gotten the AP's!)
Anyway...
is it cheaper to upgrade to AP's or get 6 days added back onto the original passes?
I tried to crunch the numbers but kept getting lost! HELP please!
Thanks in advance...

A hoping for help bump...

Need more info -

How many days did the original passes have? What options/add ons (if any) did the tickets originally have? (park hopping, plus pack, etc.) I assume you had at least the no-expiration option.

Do you remember what you originally paid for the tickets?

Are you a Florida resident? A DVC member?

Best wishes-

thanks for helping...
the original passes were non- expiring non- park hopper 10 day passes.
We are not Fl residents or DVC members.
The kids are are all under 9 years old.

Thanks!

OK. The kids had a base ticket with the no-expiration add on (no park hopping, no plus options for waterparks &DQ). A 10 day child ticket cost $284.36.

Since there are 3 days remaining on the 10 day ticket, you could turn the ticket in and get a credit of 3/10 of the original price to apply to the purchase of either a new MYW ticket or an AP. My math says the credit will be $85.31.

Assuming you need 6 park days, if you buy the 6 day base with the no expiration (required to buy no-expiration add on - see info in link below), the price will be $215.13 minus the $85.31 which equals 129.82.

A new child AP is $357.83. After you apply the credit, the price will be $272.53. I wouldn't do this unless you plan to go again within a year of the upcoming March trip and be in a park for at least 5 days.

Another option is to buy a new 10 day MYW base ticket with no expiration. Since you will use 6 of the days, you will have 4 left for another trip. The price for that option is $284.36 - $85.31 or $199.05

OR you can buy a 3 day MYW base ticket for $145.91. This ticket expires 14 days from first use, so I would use it up first and save the tickets you have now to use last - in case you don't go into the parks every day.

What should you do? Depends on when you think you will visit again and how many park days you will need on those visits. Plus - how much money do you want to tie up in tickets for future trips?

HTH a little.

Upgrading WDW TIckets

Best wishes -

Choice 1: Buy all new tickets for everybody using all cash (6 day expiring or 10 day non-expiring). Save the old tickets for a time when you don't need to buy any new tickets.

Choice 2: Buy annual passes for everybody using all cash if you expect to spend 13 or more days in the parks over the next 12 months. Save the old tickets for further off in the future.

Do not use up old tickets and also commence using new tickets during the same (4 to 10 day) vacation.

The remains of the old ticket may have a trade in value of $85. towards a new MYW ticket but you must purchase non-expiration on the new ticket. The remains of the old ticket are worth about $50. per day ($60 if your child has passed 10 years of age) when used as-is (or upgraded free to adult) on a future 3 day vacation or on three isolated days.

I'm told that the trade up value towards an annual pass is about $40., the value of day #8, day #9, and day #10 (about $3. each) plus 3/10 the $107. cost of non-expiration.
