Do all tickets need to be activated at the parks? We would prefer to have tickets activated and ready to go instead of wasting valuable time waiting in line the first morning at the park. We will not visit any parks the first day we arrive so our plan was to go to downtown disney to purchase our tickets and they would be ready to go. Does this sound right and is there a way to purchase discount tickets (4 day park hoppers) somewhere else and have them already activated or can we still take them to the downtown disney store the first night and head right into the park the next day with no waiting ? What is the most efficient way of doing this?

Hi:
I bought our tickets on the internet, and got them in the mail. They did not need tobe "activated." They went through the turnstils as they were the first day we used them. I think the tickets are cheaper if you can get them before you leave home. Once you are in Orlando (e.g., airport, Disney properties, etc.), the price is higher.

Park Hopper and Park Hoppr Plus tickets do not require any activation no matter where you purchase them from.

If you buy them at DTD, you will be charged the higher gate price for the tickets. You can buy them with the advance purchase discount at ahead of time at any TDS or by phone from WDTC/CRO. You can also get them cheaper at many independent ticket wholesalers (Ticketmania, Paramount, etc). All of these tickets are already activated when you buy them.
