On Friday, 6 November, Tiana's Showboat Jubilee debuted at the Disneyland Resort.

Come celebrate "Mardi Gras style" with Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen
(from Disney's newest animated fature, "The Princess and the Frog")
in this all-new, toe-tappin', hand-clappin' riverboat extravaganza
along the Rivers of America.

Daily 11:15am, 12:45pm, 2:45, 4:15

Some of us DISers took the opportunity to watch it yesterday.

First, we visited Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen. They are in Angel's Court in New Orleans (how appropriate), and are in a very beautiful setting for a meet and greet.

The first picture is Princess Tiana & Prince Naveen with oc_tony and YellowMickeyPonchos (two of our Disneyland Podcast correspondents). The next pic is just of Tiana and Naveen.

After a pleasant visit, we made our way to the riverfront, and actually stood in the tiered section between Cafe Orleans and the river. We stood in the area that is used for the Fantasmic Premium seating, next to the area where the main light rises.

This turned out to be a PERFECT spot, as the parade passed right by us. Unfortunately, I was not able to take pics, but I did take some video before my card ran out.

Click on the pic for a brief video of the parade from New Orleans Square to the Mark Twain.

The parade passed us and boarded the Mark Twain Steamship, where pre-selected Disneyland guests were waiting to take part in the show.

The audio was fantastic, and the music very catchy as the steamboat made its way towards us, where it stopped, and Tiana, Naveen, Louis the Alligator, a live band, and singers performed the jubilee. There is even a performance by the villain, Doctor Facilier.

Here is a snippet of the show. Click on the pic below:

Here is a pic of a couple of ladies who had been in an earlier show. They had bead necklaces with a medallion that said Tiana's Steamboat Jubilee, and told us that they had a lot of fun on the show.

I would highly recommend watching Tiana's Steamboat Jubilee. If you would like to participate in the show, go near the Rivers of America, near the river, in front of the Pirates of the Caribbean/Cafe Orleans area. Look for cast members who have coupons for the show. They will hand out coupons for guests who'd like to perform. Guests have to be old enough to look over the railing, and will dress in choir robes, and do things like wave streamers and hold props for the show. Note that several have reported that you should go to New Orleans Square when the park opens to get selected for the show.

While the crowd wasn't really too big while we were there, this is really a good show, and I expect word to spread, so be sure to station yourself somewhere in front of Cafe Orleans or Pirates of the Caribbean for the best view. Since the show is on the Mark Twain, everyone in this area should have a pretty good view.

Note that the Mark Twain sails around the island several times during the day. Selected guests can ride during the show, but the steamboat is open to the general guests for other rides.

Thank you for the reports and the information! It looks really, really fun.

I hope I'm not an awful person to kind of LIKE that there's a special opportunity that may not be primarily for kids? I'm not sure I'd actually dare to volunteer/interact with them/etc., but it's nice to know that I probably COULD. (If I want to be captured on dozens of tourists' cameras. :flower3: )

What time do the CMs start handing out the coupons to be in the show?

Thanks for the detailed report. That looks fun! Well, to me... Not sure if my family of all boys will go for it. :) Were there many children in the show? All I can see are adults.

Tiana is so lovely. Very pretty.princess:

Looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for the pics and info Mary Jo!:)

My family of boys complained - loudly! But, my hubby was a doll and we saw it anyway. I loved it. The music was good, the parade was fun, the park guests who participated looked like they were having a really great time.

I would recommend this show. It was peppy, fun and well done. We stood near the control area and listened in on the people running the show and I couldn't believe the number of non-park Disney people that were around.

We were there on Fri. morning for the very first show, so that would probably explain the Disney higher ups that we saw. I think all of Burbank was there. :upsidedow

We saw one girl in the show - the rest of the people were grown-ups and the girl looked to be about 10ish. Definitely tall enough to see over the railing. It seemed like you had to really be "on stage" on the Mark Twain and at some times the guests were on the back side of the boat hidden away from anyone viewing from ROA.

Great review, Mary Jo! It made me feel like I was right there with you! (Oh wait.....I was ;) ) hehe

Your pictures came out beautifully! Especially the one of just Princess Tiana & Prince Naveen in the Court de Angels, I thought it was a pic from a Disney press release! :thumbsup2

I'd like to hear about the coupons for the show as well. Is there a place and time to try to get the copons?

We talked to a couple of ladies who had been in the earlier show, and they said that about 20 minutes/half hour before the show (showtimes are on the daily schedule) cast members will go down around New Orleans looking for people to be in the show. They were down around Rivers of America, in front of Pirates of the Caribbean and were approached by the cast members. They were asked if they wanted to be in the show, and how many in their family.

Nancy (YellowMickeyPonchos) asked the cast members what the age cut-off for participation, and was told that it really depends on height, but they were looking at no younger than 6'ish.

Does anyone have the times schedule from today? Just wanting a rough idea of times it is shown.

Thanks
Vickie

It was so much fun seeing you yesterday! If you have any pics, please add them. :teeth:

Here are the show times for this weekend. I added them to the first post, too.

Fri & Sat: 11:15am, 12:45pm, 2:45, 4:15
Sun 1:10pm, 2:45, 4:15

I want to try to do this! My husband was rather pleased that he wouldn't have to be involved..."Darn...looks like I'll have to stay on the sidelines with our 3 year old." ;) But I asked my 6 and 9 year olds if they were interested and my 6 year old asked, "Will anyone see me?" :rotfl: Maybe it will just be me trying to make my debut. ;)

(If I want to be captured on dozens of tourists' cameras. :flower3: )

Welcome to my world (and that of most every other Disney Cast Member), lol.

But really, judging from what I've seen on YouTube, it seems to flow much better than it's companion show at the Magic Kingdom here in Florida. Not that the WDW Version isn't a good show, but it just seems to be pushing the limits of theming ever so slightly by putting New Orleans- and Jazz Era-inspired Princess and the Frog in colonial Liberty Square, lol. Seeing it in NOS just works much better for my brain's processes, lol.

Wonderful pics! Thanks, Tom (& Kristi!!) Can't believe I missed those. (ugh)

Did you catch Wes in my last pic. :)

Now I do.

Here he is again....standing as far away from the Princess as humanly possible...while still being in the picture. :rotfl2:

Thanks again to you, Chrysty, Tony and Nancy and the girls for keeping Kristi & West company while I was on the Studios tour.

Oh, his face was priceless. He's all boy.

Here's another pic. You'll notice Prince Naveen holding on to him. He kept inching away from Princess Tiana. :lmao:

Here a little girl talks to Naveen while Tiana signs her autograph book.

I really enjoyed talking to Kristi - she was very easy to talk to, and Wes was just great. He was fun to watch. :)

Great fotos! Oh no is this only a weekend thing? We'll just be there on a Mon & Tues. early Dec. ~ I'm sure the meet 'n' greet is a daily thing but maybe not the parade/boat show.

Oh Thank You all for the review and info on where to try to get tickets!! DD9 is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited about this movie!!! She loves all things Tiana and she's taking a friend to the movie when it opens. Probably not opening day but close to it! :) She will be thrilled to see this, I hope she gets picked to be in the show!
