Hi! We'll be in DL the first week of December. Does anyone have experience with how WDW handled the opening of Tiana's Bayou Adventure? Since we'll be two weeks+ after opening, are we predicting a virtual queue or a separate lightning lane for that time period? Just curious if anyone has experience/predictions. Since it was supposed to originally open earlier, I thought we'd be farther away from the opening when we planned this trip...

When or how did you hear that it was supposed to open earlier?

By "separate lightning lane" do you mean Lightning Lane Single Pass? I believe Florida is VQ, not LLSP.

They have changed the "opening date" prediction a couple of times over the past year, haven't they? I thought originally they were thinking it would open in the summer?

And yes, that's what I meant by "separate" LL. I just wondered how long the VQ would actually be in place, before they started with either the regular Lightning Lane or the single pass LL (which I figured would be the next step).

Personally, I didn't hear any predictions of opening earlier. That's why I asked.

WDW's Tiana's Bayou Adventure opened over the summer. WDW closed their Splash Mountain four months before Disneyland closed their ride.

The only date they gave was "Winter 2024" for DLR, prior to the November 15th announcement. Anything else would have been baseless speculation from vistors/bloggers/influencers. etc.

I think the Summer speculation was WDW. It wasn't originally scheduled to open until August, and park management pushed WDI to open it in May. (I think a lot of folks suspect that's why it's had so much downtime at WDW.)

Which is likely why ours, which was four months behind WDW, "should" have been opening late September/early October isn't opening until Mid-November. Some YouTubers are speculating that it could even be pushed further out due to the issues at WDW.

Splash closed on May 31, 2023. Figuring it started 4 mos after WDW, that should have put us in late October at the earliest. October is pretty darn busy at DLR. I wonder if they pushed it back two weeks just to help with crowd management.

Nov 15 will also be the beginning of the winter holiday celebration.

Edit to add that, regardless of what ride it is, when one goes down and then re-opens, the lines are really long. The lines for Pooh this weekend were crazy!

My math says four months after May 31 would be September30/October 1. But either way I'd rather they take longer to get it right then to have constant break downs after it has opened.

Sorry, I was typing quickly. If our Splash closed 4 mos after WDW, I would expect our Tiana's to open four months after WDW's Tiana's opened. Four mos after June 28 would be the end of October.

WDW: Splash closed Jan 23, 2023. Tiana's opened June 28, 2024. Total was 522 days

DLR: Splash closed May 31, 2023. Tiana's will open on November 15, 2024. Total will be 534 days.

Okay that makes sense. Hopefully, they can hit their target date with little additional downtime.

We were at WDW July 15-18, little over 2 weeks after opening. Tiana's Bayou Adventure in WDW has both VQ and LLMP.

We rode Tiana's Adventure Bayou using LLMP. I chose that over VQ because I already paid for the service. This was before WDW switched to the new LLMP so it was similar with DLR. Naturally, it was the first LL I aquired when I could, which was 7am versus park entry at DLR.

As luck would have it, ride was down (apparently it had been down all morning) during our LL window. We decided to have lunch and see if we could get lucky with it opening. Thankfully, it did! Rode it around 2pm (our original window was 10:45-11:45).

If DLR does it the same as WDW, just be with your phone at the ready and in the gate with park opening! :thumbsup2

VQ and LLMP for the first few weeks.
If opening in November, remember the cold season is coming soon after.
Splash Mountain gathered a line around 10am (during the winter it was later) and then less busy as it got darker (earlier during the winter).
If it is like the MK version I expect interest will be high for the first month, but will not stick until Spring and Summer break.

I'm not familiar with previews at DL. Is it likely that Tiana's Bayou Adventure will have cast member, media, Magic Key, Club 33, D23 previews similar to WDW?

They have been testing the ride with and without riders for a few weeks. Last week you could hear the audio and see the lights. I didn't stay around for long today but didn't see any logs or hear any audio. I saw new signage and lots of cosmetic changes to the exterior.

There are so many MK holders. I'm not sure how they would do preview days for that many people on one attraction.

It sounds like CM preview days are Oct 22 - Nov 12.

I predict Tiana's at DL will be VQ and LLSP at opening. Disney only allows two LLSP rides per park.

MK Tiana's is not LLSP because SDMT and Tron already have it. It is on LLMP and VQ at WDW

Disneyland typically does LLSP for 6 or so months upon opening a new ride, then moves it to regular LLMP. I predict the same here. I bet Tiana's moves to regular LLMP before Memorial Day 2025. LLSP just does not sell well in CA. You can pretty much always book an immediate return time for RSR or ROTR.

I could be wrong, but I'd be surprised if they don't put Tiana's on LLSP at least temporarily to recoup some of their investment in retheming the ride. Not saying I agree with it, but it's kind of how the company operates these days.
