Thwarted Terrorist Attack in Canada

An assembly of various Canadian enforcement departments (city police, RCMP, CSIS, etc) arrested 17 people last night, 12 adults and 5 "young offenders" and found 3 tons of ammonium nitrate (1 ton is what was used in the Oklahoma bombing). The exact targets have not been released, but it apprears that with that much chemical there were multiple targets within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

A big shout out to Canada's security network for keeping us safe!

I am sooo glad they were on the ball with this! I am from Oklahoma City but, I live here now ( in Canada) and I can tell you I do NOT want to experience anything like that ever, ever again. I volunteered at the Murrah building site after that bombing and it was horrible!! I still can't get some of that out of my mind. This would've made a much, much bigger bomb. To give you an idea about the one ton bomb damage, within a ten mile radius of the Murrah building most buildings had some damage to them. An entire ten block radius around that building was pretty much a mess. Most buildings around the Murrah building were severely damaged with lives lost in multiple other properties around there. My aunt worked FOUR blocks away and was cut up by blown glass from her building. I cannot even imagine what a bigger bomb would have done and don't want to.

This is a nightmare what people are trying to do in this world today with these bombs and sadly, many times my son used to say he was so glad because nothing like that could ever happen here in Canada. He was young when OKC happened and since so many of my family were involved there, he was traumatised by that.

It always scared me when people would assume we couldn't have that happen here. That's what the people thought in OKC too!! Better safe than sorry and there already was a bombing at the Iranian Embassy in Ottawa years ago. So it can happen ANYWHERE. Not to be too alarmist but, our authorities need to continue to do a good job of staying on top of this type of thing.

Breathing a sigh of relief here and feeling like I want to give a BIG to everyone involved in thwarting these people this time!! Thank YOU whoever you are!!

In London police also busted some terrorist this weekend.

Over here we also have raised seceurity levels due to teh World Cup, but fortunately so far no direct threat was detected - I'll keep my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

Excellent work by the Canadian authorities. Toronto is a very vibrant city, no doubt the extremists would love to destroy it. These sick individuals deserve alot worse punishment than they're going to get, but at least they're behind bars.
