I'm sure it comes down to size, but does anyone know why there's only a queen bed in the master? :confused3 I never knew what they looked like before, so I don't know if the floor plans are similar or if they have overhauled them.

I just find this odd since every other 1-BR and up has a king in the master. If you look at the floor plans, it looks like it actually calls for a king. I would give up all other furniture in the master to have a king sized bed. DH is 6'3", and the invisible line doesn't work so well with a queen! :scared:

I actually sent feedback through dvcmember.com, but I'm sure they laughed. I told them that I know they can't change things for one member, but if enough people comment, it would be great if they would reconsider. Not likely, I know. I bet the queen sized comforters are being made as we speak!

Probably not big enough to get a king in there. Or the stairs are too narrow for a king sized mattress to come up the stairs.

That's why Deb & Bill won't be staying at THV. No king bed.

I would love a King bed in the THV master:thumbsup2

I wont let it stop us from booking though. We have a QN at home and Dh is 6'2.

There are so many positives about the THV that I am extremely pleased to have the 11 month window. It sure beats camping:thumbsup2 Im hoping to convince Dh and the boys that staying in a thv is the equiv of camping.:goodvibes

Wish me luck!

I believe it has to do with clearances in the room. The only way to get to the master bathroom is by going around the bed. And that through-way needs to be large enough to accommodate traffic comfortably. And some of the villas are handicapped-accessible.

A king bed is 12-16" wider than a queen-sized bed. That would put the bed frame too close to the wall.

Besides, I think the presence of a king bed would have increased the temptation to charge more points for the room. ;)

Exactly - with the angles, the rooms are not large enough for a king. Somehow I think a couple can manage with a queen....take the opportunity to get closer

I see... size is everything.... ;) Just tugging your chain :) We really need a king-bed too. Really.

Everyone who needs a king bed will just have to stay somewhere else.;) Darn, that just makes it easier for us the get one at 7 months.:thumbsup2 We have a queen here at home, so no problem for us.:woohoo:

Ewwwwww!!! :snooty: Just kidding. We have a king at home, so it's all in what you're used to in life! We have some really good friends that still sleep in a standard. I think DH and I would be divorced it that were the case! :lmao:

Rob, I'm with you, Deb & Bill! I need my king, too! Well, maybe 3 bedrooms will make up for not having a king sized bed. I guess with only 4 of us, we'd all have our own bed if we want one.

I understand. I do think these will go fast, but just like I have enjoyed staying at other peoples' home resorts, I hope that others owning at different resorts can stay in the THVs as well. :goodvibes BTW, thanks for sharing your home. OKW competes in my heart for the #1 spot.

Thanks, everyone, for your thoughts, and thanks for the picture. That makes a lot of sense. One thing I hear about some of the "value" rooms at AKV is that you almost can't shut the bedroom door with the king bed in the room. We are going April 11 - 18 and will take pics and let you know! But...we will have a king size bed!!! :thumbsup2

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

We had a 1 bed Concierge and it was tight. You have to get in the bed and then close the door! No lie!:goodvibes

We still enjoyed it but funny you should bring that up because it is so true.

I think the 3 bedrooms of the THV for the 2 bed points is a good tradeoff for the QN bed. As the boys get older, they dont want to sleep together and sometimes I feel like we make enough sacrifices to own DVC that they should not have to sleep on an air mattress. We love SSR and were already considering the move up to the 2 bedroom so the THV are right on time! Now we even have a Guest room!:thumbsup2

Ditto. I am so excited they are part of SSR, and that they will be the point value of a 2-BR. I do think that is a really good value. As the kids get older and possibly want to bring friends, it will allow a ton of flexibility. :thumbsup2

P.S. That's funny about having to shut the door from the bed. Since the point value is less, DH and I decided to try it. Our next visit may be OKW after this trip just for the added space! LOL!

Were did you get this drawing of the MB, it's great!!!! Do you have drawings of the other rooms? I'm wondering if we could get a blow up bed in the other two bedrooms so we would not have to use the pull out..

Tim, what do you figure they did with the shower and tub in the master bathroom? It looks like you go through the shower to get to the tub.

Yup, that's exactly what you do. The shower is a sort of pass-through to reach the tub.

I had to double-check with someone at DVC to be sure myself. :)

Tim, Thank you for the link! I love all the photos:wizard:
We were seriously talking about spending more time at HHI because of the relaxing environment, the large porches, and the lower points for the 2 bedrooms. It is the same driving distance for us from TX so that was a wash. Both FL and SC are 1100 miles from us.

Now we have the THVs, it is just awesome!

I could spend all day on that deck and Dh could grill and we could just have a nice long vacation and use our waterpark passes.

Well, that is an unusual master bathroom! Was it like that in the old treehouses, having to pass through a shower stall to get to the tub?
