I woke up around 7:00 AM and made coffee and had a leftover apple from the PBH “welcome gift”. The BCV in-room coffee was really good. When my DH finally got up, we drove to the MK. It’s such an easy drive that I decided I am going to rent a car the next time I go to WDW. I usually do a limo service when I go by myself.

This time I was finally able to use my AP for that free parking. We were joking with each other that Disney should pay us to park. I have free AP parking, free DDE parking and the BC gave us a piece of paper to get free parking at the parks.

It was 9:30 AM by the time we parked at the TTC. Once we got inside the MK, we stopped at the Main Street Bake Shop and split a delicious bagel and a not-so-delicious croissant. And we both had some OJ. I guess we’re never going to give up the hope that Vitamin C was going to help our colds.

We sat next to some people from New York who were talking about the presidential inauguration. My DH and I just silently stared at each other and didn’t have to say a word. We were both thinking the same thing. Political discussions have no business in WDW, especially the MK!

After breakfast, we were going to get a FP for PP but it was a walk-on. It’s one of my DH’s favorites. I just love seeing him smile like that.

He was kind-a thrown by the Cinderella’s Surprise Celebration in front of the castle. And it turned into a joke between us because it was going on every time we walked past the castle.

I was kind-a thrown by the garden in front of the castle being boarded up. I always stop to blow a kiss to Walt and Mickey. I had to throw them one over the wall, hoping that they were still there.

Then we rode our two big favorites, HM and PotC. We love them both so much.

Then we went to my DH’s big favorite, COP. And my heart just skipped a beat when I saw people standing in line in front of it. I had prepared him for the possibility that it wasn’t open. I was so happy it was open and so was he.

After COP, we rode TTA. And then we did Buzz Lightyear. Once again I beat my DH, 240,000 to 124,000, so I really knew he was sick. I never beat him at anything that involves aiming a gun. I suggested calling it quits for the day but he said he still had some life in him.

So we left MK and stopped for some gas at the Hess station where I called for a PS at the SciFi. (And my DH wasn’t shocked that I had Disney Dining on my cell phone contacts list.) We were able to get one for 1:00 PM and it was only 12:20 PM. We self-parked at the BCV and took the boat to MGM. But the boat took forever and we didn’t get to SciFi until 1:15 PM. But we didn’t have to wait long to get to our “car”. I had a Reuben without the corned beef (so it’s basically a grilled cheese sandwich with sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing… don’t laugh… it’s pretty good). My DH had the BBQ chicken sandwich which he said was very good. And we had so many refills on our Cokes that the waiter said we both had a drinking problem.

My DH had never been to the SciFi before and he just loved it. He couldn’t believe that we’d seen almost every one of the movies they showed. We’re old Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans. It was a show on cable TV that showed really bad, old movies and there was a guy and some robots that made fun of the movie being shown. Now I realize that it’s very hard to explain the show but that’s why we knew all the movies.

After lunch we rode the GMR. My DH asked if he was going to get wet. At that point I realized how long it’s been since he last visited WDW (January 2001). I can’t believe he forgot about peeping up Mary Poppin’s skirt during the GMR! And as many times as I’ve ridden it, I still get a thrill from the Wizard of Oz section.

Next we went to One Man’s Dream. They had some new exhibits since the last time I was there. I’m glad they keep changing and updating it. And the movie at the end always makes me tear up. My DH commented on the fact that he didn’t realize that Walt was such a big risk taker.

We left MGM during the afternoon parade so my DH got to see the “real” Mary Poppins on the way out. I told him that the guy playing Burt was doing a really good job. My DH said didn’t notice. Let’s just say he was more focused on that Poppins woman!

We tried to find a bus to Epcot but ended up back on the slow boat to the BC. Did they take away the buses to Epcot or did they just never have them? My DH started to question my WDW expertise.

Before the boat left the dock, we saw a very serious cop go up to the captain of the boat and say something. The only part we heard was “there’s a reason why we’re doing this”. Then the cop left. We spent a long time speculating on what they “were doing” but we couldn’t come up with anything.

During the boat ride I realized that I was fading. I was definitely not feeling well and couldn’t believe that my DH was still raring to go. So I suggested that we take a break back in the room.

Once back in the room, we tried to sit out on our balcony but it was too cold. I guess just a few days in Florida had adjusted our internal thermostats. Last week it was well below zero in Minnesota.

I ended up taking a short nap while my DH became addicted to the ESPN Classic channel. He said he was glad we don’t have that channel at home because he’d never get anything done.

At sunset, we took off for Epcot. I was hoping the 30 minute stand-by wait time listed at the Test Track was just an exaggeration but it was very accurate. But my DH was very glad he had finally gotten to ride Test Track. The last time he was at WDW, Test Track was very new and was breaking down all the time.

After Test Track, we went to The Living Seas. Once inside, we saw that everyone was rushing over to see Crush. As I was dragging my DH there, he said “I thought we came here to see the dolphins”. I said “you’ll love this”. And we both did. It was very warm in the theatre (or did I have a fever?) but it was great. As expected, we were just enthralled by the technology and the kids in the theatre were just thrilled with Crush. What a great attraction, DUDE!

As we left Crush, I got to see one of “my” dolphins. Despite doing the Dolphins in Depth tour twice, I still can’t tell the dolphins apart. So I asked a CM but he didn’t know the dolphin’s names or if one of them was Bob. I still haven’t found out what happened to Bob. Then the CM kicked us out because the animals “needed their sleep”.

And so did my DH. He was fading fast. After a slight detour when we figured out the sidewalk was closed in front of The Land, we walked back towards the International Gateway. By then my DH was up for a quick stop in France to pick up some food. I got the cheese plate and my DH got the ham and cheese sandwich. I also got a piece of the chocolate cake. Yum.

Once back at our BCV room, my DH ate ½ his sandwich and then crashed. I stayed up and watched the “Your Next Disney Vacation” channel. They did a nice segment on the AKL which was great since that’s where I am staying when I come back in May.

All night long, my DH and I woke up coughing like we were “20 pack a day” smokers. Oh yeah, we were sick alright. But there was only one more day of vacation left.

Glad that you were able to do quite a bit even with the colds.......Hope you guys got over it fast.....thanks for your report

I am glad to hear that you were well enough to go out and do something. Sounds like you were smart by taking it slow and taking a mid-day nap.

I love Sci Fi too. I've seen a few of those movies -- and not of MST3000!
